So my evil friend is knocking my piggy bank's door with a deal he got from work. I now have a chance to buy an okay-body condition (maybe a 6.5-7?) but perfect glass nikon Noct AI-S for 2k CDN (actually 12500RMB, almost 2K give or take) .

Already have one and hardly taking any pics lately, D700 has been collecting dust... so, this is going as an investment. Do you think it's worth it? I tried looking up on eBay about noct, but although they fetch a good bucks, they all seem to be collector condition, you can hardly tell they are not new.

What would you pay for a noct in similar kind of condition?

I'd say walk away, but that's just me.

Walk away. Do you really need a 1.2 lens? Do you focus a lot on night time photography? If not, I would walk away and spend your money on a 50mm 1.4G (newest gen - http://www.nikon.ca/en/Product.aspx?m=14125)

I shoot wide open with it all the time. It's big improvement over the previous generation. I've owned both.

Well, as I said in my original post, I already own a Noct.

I'm discussing about buying the extra one as investment. Like buying it and then sell it on eBay or sth.

I was thinking to make some quick cash. Do you think if I post it on fleebay or CL, would I be able to get 2.5K for it??

Truthfully? No, but on the other hand, PT. Barnum was right...

noct is a scam.

same optics in a sigma 50mm f/1.4

You're just holding collectors glass is all.

I'm not usually one to not read posts in their entirety. My bad I missed the fact that you already own one :p.
