As far as metal, I'm mostly listening to local bands. Antiquus is some killer melodic power metal, lot of story/theme/concept stuff. Then again, I'm biased because I recorded their debut CD :)

Another current fave is Over The Coals - they're more on the death side, but with a solid melodic component that I dig.

Without Mercy actually sounds really good. I listened to some of their songs on myspace and it's actually not bad. I like songs that are complicated and fast on drums.

Pantera is kick ass hard rock. who wouldn't like them? they're awesome. the Live 101 Proof album is just all around badass
