CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) - The cold weather and poor economy has meant busy times for places who help out the homeless and needy. However, in Chilliwack not all of the homeless being helped are actually from the area.
Ted Stoker, director of Ruth and Naomi's Mission, says someone has been paying to bus out homeless people from Vancouver. "They get a one-way ticket and then they're stuck here. They're not happy about it at all and neither are we, but what are you going to do? They're trying to clean up the Vancouver area the best they can before the world comes here, which is sort of a sad thing because a lot of these people they don't want to be placed out here in no man's land."
Stoker says that between having more homeless people in town and more people unemployed they're serving more than 130 dinners a night.
The Mission is always looking for donations of food, blankets and clothing -- especially gloves
course in south park the homeless followed the bus and not actualy take it lol
