Last Sunday around 4am I woke up to my car alarm going off and my gf lil brother screaming that someone is trying to break into my car. So I run outside and dont see anyone around but my windshield was all smashed up. my gf lil brother said all he saw was 2 people running away, possibly asian(they were wearing puffy north face jackets w/ black hair.) Wierd thing about this is that there was about 5 other cars in the drivway and mine was the closest one to the house but was the only one that was vandalized.

anyways i got my car towed today to get repaired and the tow truck driver was telling me that he thinks they were possibly testing my car alarm to see how sensitive it is so they can come back for my rims,stereo,ect...

has anyone every heard anything like this or am i just being paranoid? im just worrried because i have a stock alarm and i dont think it would go off if they tried to take my rims

even when you have a compustar, what makes you think it'll stop? if they wanted your rims, your car would have be on blocks and not damage windshield.

+1. Something like an alarm isn't always going to deter thieves, if they want it, they will try to get it.

In terms of your situation, I have heard of just the same thing happening (well.. almost). One night my friend woke up to see his car had a dent on the roof as it appeared that a LARGE rock had been thrown at his car... the following day his car was broken into and his subs/amp/deck stolen... We were left to assume that the people who vandalized the car the first night were the same people to return the second night, simply testing whether or not he had an alarm or not. Sucks that it happened to you, but at least nothing was taken...

nothing was taken but it still cost me a $300 deductible...i just dont want them trying somthing else that will cost me another $300....will probably upgrade my alarm system when teh snow clears

However if they were really low life theives, then I don't think there is really anything for you to do but to prepare for the worst. In other words, you should remove the expensive stuff (ex. audio system, nice rims, coins) from the car. I know it will be a pain to remove the audio system, but have them removed temporarily until things cool down.

ahhh ok, yeah I thought your car looked familiar. Yeah I sometimes see your car there when I drive by so I assumed you still lived there. Shitty deal man. I would recommend a compustar as well. My buddy has one and its saved his ass a few times. I park my car in the garage and I have an aftermarket alarm so I'm good. I thought that happened in our neighbourhood because back in the day when we had our van and parked it outside someone pried the door open and stole some change, fuckin theives have nothing better to do. The garage door opener was also in the van, the theives had the balls to open up the garage door but my dad heard it and went downstairs, as soon as he turned on the lights, they booked it.
