Anyone who has ever worked for a valet service can probably share countless horror stories.
The valet service at Holt Renfrew downtown is atrocious. I watched the two idiots working there rip up and down the 20 meters of parking space revving some poor guys F430 like mad.

some tuning programs, like Osiris has a valet mode which doesn't let you rev above 2.5k etc.

I worked at a valet for 2 years. I got to drive some pretty special cars.

Horror story time.

Yes, its true, but not all the time. It depends who takes your car, but usually the young guys who are new are the ones who do things like this. Old guys who have been there a long time don't care to drive like that. I've seen an cold X5 started and gunned to the redline immediately and spat out blue smoke from the rear. I've seen a new Porsche 911 parallel parked into a curb minute after the owner left it with us. Ever gone from third to second at 100km/h in a Mazdaspeed MX-5 be mistake? Or crashed a Merc CL 65?

Or more recently reversed into the departure level at VYR?

Had a friend valet who told the manager he could drive manual.
He definitely did not know how, ended up crashing someones car while stalling a couple times in the process

when i worked at bmw the new kid told us all he knew how to drive stick. so we watched as he hopped into a new m coupe. BOOM! stalled, gets out of the car and says "i can't drive manual"

thats the best part about working as a valet!
you get to drive nice cars all the time and rip it out like hell and not have to worry cause its not your car!

12-17-2009, 03:22 PM
^^ thats what i though too. only reason for people working valet seems like a deadend job to me other than for the above reason along.

I never valet but i though ppl would know you car being ripped on is the price one pays for being lazy

my friend worked as a valet, he said the tips were amazing on a regular basis. basically, if you tip well, chances are your car will be treated better. of course, there's guys who treat your car like shit regardless lol...

BS, if one of my lot kids drove like a fucking idiot in a customers car or even a used car hed be on his ass out the door pretty quik, i cant imagine a dealership allowing that kind of thing to happen

spoon.ek9

there's plenty of things that no one sees happening at dealerships. and you're assuming here that only lot boys abuse cars, which is incorrect ;)

at bmw, there was an email forwarded to all employees about someone "power drifting", as they put it, with the demo cars. apparently a customer spotted the temp plate and called it in to management.

What I usually do when I valet is tip the guy $20 and leave my car out front and I take the keys to the restaurant with me. If the valet is smart, he should have a few spots reserved out front and he would just pull one of those cars out and put in in the garage.

Thats what I used to do. He gets to have a baller spot and keep his keys, i get more tip and i don't have to be there when he returns

win win
