You may want to reconsider, MSRs are heavy heavy wheels, same boat as TSW

what are the negatives of using heavy wheels? Bumpier ride? more frequent replacements?

Heavier wheels means lower braking/accelerating/turning performance, and more stress on your suspension.

On the plus side heavier wheels are usually more durable and absorb more harshness.

not true, the weight of the wheel has nothing to do with how strong the wheels are. The way they are made cast vs forged as well as the design of the spokes determines how strong the wheels are.

No that's not true.
Even cast vs cast the heavier ones are not more durable than the lighter ones.
Most of the Advan, Enkei and Works are also cast and they are stronger than a lot of other wheels, cast or forged, and still being lighter than others (especially Advan).

The heavier the wheel the more stress on suspension, slower respond, worse performance etc.
That's why when people look for wheels they always want ligher ones.
The 8000ton forged Volks and Neez are lighter and still stronger than some of the 4000ton forged HRE.
