Sorry, but that wasn't some crazy impressive feat that the WRX did.
Power is not the issue here, it's weight and traction. Spinning all four tires in the snow does not require much engine. Between what traction the truck had and what the WRX had, it was just enough.
You probably could have hooked just about any AWD car up and it would have done the same.

why bother? You know it's just going to become a big argument and no one will win in the end.

lol i've pulled a few trucks out of snow last year with my audi... if you got AWD and good tires, it really doesnt matter what kinda car it is

i dont think crv or rav4 can do that even with snow tires.
on a side note, thats so bad for the chassis, the sti is not rated for towing, let alone towing a semi, but on the positive side, GO SUBARU POWER!

Personally, I think this video is fake. Even if the truck was emply, the truck and trailer would still weight over 40,000 lbs and there is no way the STi can pulll that much weight even if the truck was spinning it's drive wheels.

Hmmm... let's see. The STi is spinning all 4 tires which means most of the power the car is making is being used to spin the 4 tires which means very little forward force. All of a sudden the 40,000 lb truck lurches forward and drives away. Right.... so this video must be real.

I would never tow any vehicle that was stuck in the snow, let alone a semi truck.
Who knows what kind of potential damage could result in doing this,I would surely not want to risk it.That's what tow trucks are for.

I wanted to see the rear get torn off that ugly Subaru like on a Pontiac Sunfire video that's been floating around on Youtube.

Strange, that STi looks a lot like a VW ;)
Those are completely different so why the comparison? If you can find a video of an STi pulling a plane, that would be valid, but this isn't.

For starters, it's got over 550ft/lbs at 2000rpm...
This is more baffling

Yeah... this is basically like a straw that broke the camel's back situation... with the camel being the big rig, the back being the traction, and the straw being the STi.
It's like the big rig was 99% able to get out of that situation itself, but was missing the 1% traction... and the STi provided that extra 1% traction.

pfft. a GT-R woulda towed those vehicles in half the time.

That VW comparison is stupid. Firstly the Touareg was on pavement which has 50 times the traction of snow. Secondly the Touareg was the diesel with stump-pulling torque. Thirdly the Touareg has a low-range.
Oh, and the fact the Touareg was loaded with some 9,000lbs of steel weight to increase traction. Yes, 9,000 lbs. It looks cool, but it's just a stunt really.
I also call fake on the Subaru video. Probably some clever marketing so that people who have never driven in snow, have never towed anything in their life, have never pulled anyone out of snow and have no comprehension of simple basic physics would fall for and say "OMG Subaru rulz".
