been looking for an HID kit to go in aftermarket projector housing. is the X-Tune 6000k a good choice? it's everywhere on ebay

I have never heard of X-Tune but I am gussing it's just another cheap eBay HIDs.
I've had some no-brand HIDs and McCulloch HIDs, both of them were garbage, ballast will just die on you so fast. (less than a year)
I have had my PIAA HIDs for almost 3 years and still going strong. I'd recommend you getting a decent one.

I heard good stories about Phillips HIDs too.

Anyways, you'll get what you paid for.

whats a good place to get it from? both PIAA and philips?

Timpo

I got mine from Lordco, I got a hook up on price though.

PIAA HIDs normally go for $1,100 but I got mine for a bit more than $600 because it was a trade-show-price thing.

you can get Philips HIDs online, they're very popular.

I am happy with PIAA HIDs built quality and durability, however I am not happy with the size of ballast and wiring was a bit more complicated than cheap eBay HIDs.
PIAA might have updated their ballast though, but I am not positive.

ok I just looked around on eBay and Philips HIDs ranges from something like $100 to $400+...I bet some of them are fake, so I guess you should be careful.

I've found some link, I guess these ones are real Philips but I can't personally guarantee you.

why spend $600+ on a plug and play kit when there are reputable sites that offer lifetime warantee on bulb and ballast for sub 200? :/

I could not find any "reputable sites" locally. (in victoria)
also, if you install it by yourself, the warranty is void.
I got a quote somewhere around $300 to install it, because they told me they need to take off headlights and bumper. Which is not really necessary, but couple of places I went to told me.
Also, if I buy one off the website, if anything goes wrong, I will be responsible for shipping for both ways. Sending it and receiving it.
Local stores were selling no brand HIDs for like $300-500 with 1 year warranty, so I just decided to go with PIAA for $600 since I know I was getting a good deal.

:rolleyes:I beg to differ.

removing your catalytic converter, purple taillights, putting R compound tires, etc...are all illegal.

but a lot of parts out there on the market are legal...TRD exhaust are usually street legal, a lot of tires and wheels are DOT approved, turbo kits or superchargers are CARB legal, lowering your car to certain level, and the lists go on...

Some things are just illegal...

Other things are downright dangerous, not just to you, but to other drivers.

Blinding oncoming drivers with your illegal don't-give-a-shit-for-nobody-but-myself HIDs is one of them.

When I crash into you head-on because I can't see where the fuck I'm going, you go ahead and tell me how you don't give a fuck.

installing HID kits into reflective housings, sure it's stupid and dangerous

but installing into OEM headlights with projector housings, i dont see a problem with it at all, they all have cut off beams, and if you have half a brain your no more blinding than any BMW, etc.

Is it still illeagal if you have projectors with cut off beams?

If those OEM projector headlights you're referring to are made for halogen bulbs, then no, you are definitely more blinding than OEM HIDs by sticking an HID kit into them.

Halogen projectors are not the same as HID projectors.

And it's cut-off shields, not beams.

YES it has a cut off but look at it! uneven light, the width of the beam.

Don't get a hid kit, Don't put hid in halogen housing. Get a car WITH hid.

its just that i see you respond to pretty much every HID thread on RS as if HIDs came into your house, disrespected your whole family because somebody narc'd you out!

Never seen someone so adamant about HIDs and the use of the word ricer... you really need a new hobby, we may need to do an intervention on you, you wont even see it comin! haha :lol
