If you have read any polls on bittorrent, 90-95% of the population uses UTorrent. Mainly because of how small and effecient it is, uses minimal amounts of CPU for pretty maximize amounts of download speed with relative ease to setup. However, for people that knows how to read chinese, and don't mind a CPU hungry program, you can try the program called "Thunder" made by chinamen. It's main advantages are that it is a "all in one" download client, with emule and many other forms of download client merged into one.

And one MAIN advantage that I've found from this program? You don't have to worry about ratio's with private torrent because I've found that no matter how much and fast you download, it somehow knows to keep your ratio at 1:1 even if you do not upload at all. Don't ask me how they do it, but leave it to chinamen to know how to leech the internet to the max.

I didn't think there were still people out there using anything but uTorrent :p
I have tried a few clients and have yet to find anything as fully featured in a small package.

That client is banned from numerous private trackers. It's the reason I stopped using it.

Utorrent + 10000000000000000000000

I haven't done the update. Everytime I do it messes with the settings and I have to redo everything.

If it ain't broke why fix it. Are the any significant "upgrades" to the newest utorrent?

I highly doubt the number of Bittorrent users is that high. On uTorrent you can see what peers are using and the majority is always uTorrent, some azureus and some transmission as well.

Also programs that spoof your ratio are banned on any private trackers worth a damn so the only time you would be able to use it is when ratio doesn't matter anyway.

I used bittorrent the for like the first 3 torrents I downloaded hah. Then I found Azureus, then I switched to BitComet because it runs lighter. Now I use uTorrent because it runs light and it isn't banned.
