Laptop keyboard repair, how?

has anyone repaired their own keyboard themselves or know a good cheap place to do it?
or should i buy an ext keyboard for this laptop, it's a home laptop so not a huge hassle

Typically, the keyboard can be replaced by swapping in a working keyboard. The operation shouldn't be too hard, but it will depend on the manufacturers' designs. Dealextreme has some laptop keyboards ranging from 20 - 50 dollars.

alright i ordered one of those cheap indestructible rubber keyboards, that thing better last at least a year

It's relatively easy to replace a laptop keyboard. It should take about 5 minutes. The last couple of laptops I worked on required the keyboard to be removed for RAM upgrades.
It's generally impossible to repair a keyboard. They are not designed to be disassembled.
The hardest part about replacing a keyboard is getting the replacement. I suspect you will find it on eBay. I have not found any readily available parts in Vancouver.
