Terminating My Employment

Just curious on what's the proper way of terminating my employment with the company.
I definitely know that you have to give them a two week notice,
but does it have to be written up or can I verbally notify them about my termination?
The reason behind my termination is ever since I started working for this company (about two years ago),
the management has been absolutely garbage.
And I'm talking about benefits being cut short and un-reasonable rules are made on the spot.
There are other reasons too but I will state them later.
To define benefits being cut short, when me and a few friends got hired,
we were stated as an employee that's opening or closing the store, we are entitled to having a small pizza or salad of your choice.
But now you only get a personal sized pizza which is no bigger than your hand,
only way to receive this is if you have an opening or closing shift, on top of that, working 6+ hours during those shifts.
As for as discounts go, they're really not even discounts any more.
When we first started to work here, we were given a specific discounts on food (I cannot state the pricing).
But now it's completely blown out of proportion. I will use one example.
For employees, a can of pop would cost 50 cents to purchase,
this was before. Now the current pricing is 75 cents, but the catch is this.
The first 2 cans of pop are 75 cents each, but after that it's 20% off regular price.
As for rules, there was this one rule that caught my attention which is absolutely ridiculous.
Specifically rule number 4 on the attached picture below.
The management is neglecting to give us a starting float amount, and making it our own responsibility to bring change.
As an employee, how am I suppose to provide good customer service if management is not giving me a starting float to begin with.
I will update this thread when I make progress with this situation.
My rule of thumb is don't take shit from a dead end job.

Wow, you're expected to supply the float? I've never worked in a restaurant but that sounds retarded. How long have you worked there and do you plan on using them as a reference? If you want to give notice two weeks is standard in person or in writing is fine for a job like that.

Tell them "due to financial hardship, you have found another job that's closer to home and is easily accesible by transit. i regret to inform you that i am giving you my 2 weeks notice as of today. thank you for the opportunity to work with you and the wonderful organization.." ... etc..
This ensures that you'll be leaving on 'good' terms, regardless of how much you hate the manager.
Good luck.

It's actually a Panago:eek:. They're excuse for not supplying a float is they lost a certain amount of money on one day.
Work there part time for about 2 years.
I don't really plan to use them as a reference, cause working there is a living nightmare.

Just walk off the job then. If you really dont give a fuck about a ref. just leave. Lifes too short to have to put up with bullshit like that. Having to dread working everyday will kill you lol

Well, if I were you, I would try my best to muster up a written resignation letter and try to get a reference from them. That way, the 2 years u spent there will feel less of a waste, and that you can use them to your advantage for future employment.
No matter how bad it was there, try not to burn bridges.

Walking off is a bit extreme for me, but I am going to have a discussion with them.

The person that hired me, I have absolutely no problems with so reference shouldn't be a problem. It's their mom that's giving everyone shit.

LOL -
I'm just going to LOL this completely.
You hate the fuck out of the job, and you're caring about walking off and being a bit extreme? You said it's a dead end job and you care enough to have a discussion a bout it? BAHAHAHHAHAHAH.
I would burn any bridges i don't give a fuck about if i'm never ever going to be working for a panago agian.
Hell I've heard of stories with people getting paid 60-100k a year and just walking away, no return calls, no i quit, no anything. Other then someone at the family phone replying, "yah she's never coming in again."

Just for you:
Termination Under the BC Employment Standards Act
Did you quit?
If you quit your job, the Act doesn’t require you to give your employer any notice that you’re going to quit. But your employment contract (oral or written) may require you to do so. Generally, employees who have higher-level jobs must give some notice; if they don’t, their employer may sue them. The amount of notice depends on several things including the type of job, how long they had the job, and general labour market conditions. Even if you don’t have to give notice, it is usually a good idea to do so.

LOLOLOL!
I just read this thread.
Walk the fuck right out, man. Who cares about the reference? The work place is shit. The employer treats you like shit so why should you show your loyalty and pay your respects to them?

Yeah just walk out. To me, its a slap in the face for YOU to have to supply something the management is responsible for.
i thought this was going to be a career job or entry level professional until i read the post lol. it's panago man, pick up your last pay cheque and as jay-z would say:
“poof... vamoose, son of a bitch.”
give notice if you like, but i wouldnt lose sleep over a min. wage job.

lol even working at Mdix is better than this. At least when you close most of the time you can take home what's not being sold and they usually let you make your own burger for lunch/dnner and you get as much pop as you like @@

Legally, an employee does NOT have to give advanced notice when quitting a job. iT is only a professional courtesy to give 2 weeks. Hell, I've left jobs and gave 1 week notice, given the other job started really soon. If you don't care about them being a reference, then just give them a day.
Also, this might help: http://www.labour.gov.bc.ca/esb/facshts/termination.htm

are you crazy? I used to work at this panago and it wasn't like this before. I think it got a little bit better after I left but anyways, you can easily make more then double the money at panago then mcdix.

Where is P these days? It seems like he has fallen off the planet and havn't seen or heard from him. Nina was always annoying to deal with and so damn cheap sometimes. At least you got free pizza! When I worked there, I didn't get anything free but the employee discount was better back then.

I can't really go into detail, but all I can say is I haven't seen him around for a couple of weeks now.
Nina on the other hand, sometimes cheap is non-existent in her dictionary, it's always. As of today she is too fucking annoying to deal with. We're talking about putting un-necessary blame on other people.
The discount is so garbage to the point where it's 20% off during off hours.
Literally they're maximizing their profits through us, for example, a co-worker purchased 2 personal pizzas, and it came out to 8 bucks after discount, how fucking stupid is that?

Yes it might be easy, but with garbage management, it's more stressful than an office job.

if you are paid hourly, then you only need to give an hours notice. Two weeks is just courtesy.

Just encountered this thread.
If this advice still matters. I highly suggest not to just walk off.
It probably won't effect you, but it just shows a sense of class and character.
That's all.

Well I didn't walk it off, I just left them a notice stating the problems with the store and when my last day is.
Shortly after I quit, another person after me quit also.
If they seriously don't fix their problems, it's going to cause a chain reaction.

Think of is this way, if they were going to fire you, would they give you 2 weeks notice of it?
Nope.
Decide when you want to quit, and then just dont show up again. Or tell the manager to fuck off and leave, whatever you want to do. Ive had some pretty funny quit sessions.
