: Banned from RevolutionTT

Wtf.

I downloaded a 58gig file, and I was seeding it the ENTIRE time.
Took like 20 hours, so when I came home and checked, I was banned? wtf.

I know the ration is 1:1, but this is bullshit. I can't even seed it anymore?

Who's got invites or something.

If anyone's wondering, it was my first download. This is retarded.

hahaha hilarious. They autoban new users and most likely just look at the numbers regardless of how many files they were and whether you are still uploading.

I just joined again as I lost my account a while back due to inactivity. If I ever get an invite I'll post and trade it.

I'm gonna play the bad guy here but that was a noobie mistake on a private site to download such a massive file with already having a ratio to support it.

log on to irc and talk to a mod there, see what they can do for you.

I'm willing to up anyone's ratio by sharing an account. I used to do that with friends on STC until they got shut down. I'll gladly upload constantly at max speeds until our ratio is like 3.00+

i used to do that at STC, until the site got shut down. buddies account was at 0.78 and after 1.5 month I got it up to 2.0.

Do you have a seedbox or something or just a good connection and a large collection (I like how that rhymed).

Uh SpuGen, did you read the rules at all? Or pay attention to your ratio? If it was 58GB I'm assuming it wasn't all in one file, so the safest thing is to only start part of the files downloading, watch/use/whatever them and wait until you've seeded enough to move your ratio back up. Start a few more files, let them finish, keep seeding all the files you have. Repeat as needed til you have everything you want.

Lots of places don't like sharing, I've gotten warning messages before from ST because I logged in on my laptop at school, and then at home. ST was a PITA tho.

RevTT I didn't like, I had a similar issue but I only dl'd a couple of movies and kept them upped as much as possible but noone downloaded. Meh.

TorrentIt.eu was sweet in that they had some massive freeleaches when people joined so it was easy to get a good ratio off the bat. They're shutting down in 2 weeks tho and invites are being given from Digital Hive, so far DH seems good.

Saw this other day. Sad to see them go again but for whatever reason they just couldn't keep the membership up this time around. I always used them when I wanted to download a big file that I knew I wouldn't be able to seed to 1:1.

I think TIt's problem was the small size, with only 14k users (as nice as it is to stay small) most torrent sat with a seeder or so and 1 or no leechers, hard to build up ratios and such. The freeleech helped but on Demonoid I've never had ratio issues and afaik they've never had freeleech since I joined.

It was a site rip. One torrent, with a bunch of files in it.

I've been at 0.36 for Demonoid for ever. Even with seeding it's permanently stuck at .36 for some reason.
My seeding is not the problem. It's the retarded banning system they have. I was on there for like less than 24 hours. It's not even a hit and run since it was still seeding.

Never had the problem with any other site.

One torrent or many, it's a shit ton of data regardless and you really shouldn't start with it, or you could download it in pieces (pick and choose which files to download).

Demonoid's ratio system is/has been broken forever.... And it's not even considered private by other private torrent communities sicne they have NO ratio rules and give out invites so freely.

Happened to me on Supertorrent. Just email them and say you didn't know. If you're a new member they'll reactivate your account and give you some time to up your ratio.

Hopefully they're that understanding. I'm just wondering if the OP read the rules/faq to familiarize himself with the site and how they work.

Good luck seeding 58 gigs back to a 1:1 ratio. Not only will it take incredibly long, but how many people actually snatch a 58 gig torrent? Luckily RevTT allows you to buy credits. I'd probably do that in your position.

lol @ torrents

yea good luck finding older files on usenet... availability > speed

trying it out right now...its actually better than demonoid when it comes to dl...i'm connected to 60 and they are all dl files constantly at the same speed...

freeleech most likely, plus lots of sites start you off with a free 5GB upload to give you some leg room. I found RevTT was faster than Demonoid but the amount of old stuff to be found at Demonoid + the ease of maintaining a ratio made it better, getting a good ratio at RevTT was too hard cause it's all seeders and no leechers.

Yea, it shows 2billion for everyone at the very beginning. But once you start downloading it shows your real ratios.

there's lots of tricks, like on those 52 gig files, you can download a few of the rar's and just let it upload.

or sort torrents by number of leechers, download the one with most leechers and just leave it on.

or sort torrents by number of leechers, download the one with most leechers and just leave it on.

that's dangerous though. Some leechers may be partial-seeders i.e. they did what you mentioned with your first point and are seeding a part of the file instead of actually leeching.

^ you'll still be doing some upping to them though. There's also certain stuff that you can tell will give you lots of upping, ie way back I dl'd a crack to turn a trial of a very popular program into the full version. It wasn't a very big file, and I didn't even have any use for it, but people kept hitting it and I got a crazy ratio on it.

dton13

^ ya but ratio =/= big upload credits*.... if that makes sense to you.

Well no, but getting multiple gigs up for less than a hundred megs down is never bad.

dton13
01-10-2010, 12:54 PM
yea definitely can't argue there. just checked some stats on my client. highest ratio was 266.5. downloaded 7.46 MB, uploaded 1.96 GB :p

Ulic Qel-Droma
01-10-2010, 02:29 PM
yeah man it works. you just have to make sure the torrent is busy, you will always upload.

and yes people do download 52 gig packs like myself.

i download 1080p movie packs all the time and I always let those seed. they're my biggest uploaders, always using full upload bandwidth.

another one is popular TV shows, as soon as it comes out, download it fast, and just leave it uploading until it dies.

dton13
01-10-2010, 08:27 PM
true i guess. well for me under my connection, i'll stay away from any file over 20gigs unless its on a public tracker because it just takes me wayyy too long to seed that back. I gotta cap my upload speed as well so I'm uploading maybe 150-200 gigs in a year haha.

woob
01-10-2010, 09:55 PM
^ you'll still be doing some upping to them though.

ehh no I mean they aren't download anything, rather they are just seeding parts of the file, so you aren't going to be upping anything to these partial seeders (but they still show up as leechers in the torrent list).

i've been on RevTT for few months now and I have less than 20GB in d/l.

if i have 0.8Mb/s up and 12-13Mb/s down..older D-Link &Trend-Net Router with Thompson Speedtouch modem.

...what should I cap my upload rate in utorr so i can optimize my upload (not overwhelm my connection/router)?

but I thought if you only select some files, and download all those files, you count as a seeder? why would you count as a leecher if everything you wanted from that torrent is done?

You should cap it based on your provider. For me under shaw I just cap it to 30-40/kbps I don't know if their rules have changed since they added the new speeds but I used to see a drastic dip in d/l speeds when I was anything other that. I'm not in a huge need for upload speeds either since I have a pretty large buffer for my ratio ;)

The tracker sees it as "torrent incomplete" and thus, you are labelled as a leecher by the tracker. My profile on one private tracker says I'm currently leeching 2 files when in reality, I'm seeding some of the files from the torrent.

Well that's kinda stupid, especially considering I almost always uncheck the "Torrent downloaded from Demonoid.com.txt"
