Tokyo Auto Salon 2010: G’s Toyota FT-86 G Sports Concept : Auto News (http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2010/01/tokyo-auto-salon-2010-gs-ft-86-g-sports-concept.html)

Toyota has recently announced its G Sports conversion car series that will be sold through Toyota-brand dealers in Japan throughout 2010. These G’s series vehicles are designed for owners interested in having a unique vehicle and several of them took center stage at Toyota’s booth at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon. We have heard plenty about Toyota’s FT-86 and the company’s G’s version stole the show. Dozens gathered around the car during exclusive media hours in order to see it up close and personal. Plenty of carbon fiber accents can be seen on this extremely stylish and polished design, making this FT-86 Concept even more impressive than the original.

Along with the standard carbon fiber goodies, there’s a vented carbon fiber hood and a massive rear spoiler. We also noticed an aggressive new exhaust setup.

With this concept Toyota continues to build interest in the FT-86, which is believed will head to production shortly. The car is rumored to be powered by a 2.0-liter Subaru boxer engine with Toyota heads, delivering around 200-hp. Toyota is hoping this model will be a hit with enthusiasts, tuners and help get a younger demographic into its showrooms.

well ppl bought s2k for $50k cdn. I don't think it's fair to judge this car without a testdrive. It seems pretty promising to me. I guess this track oriented car is more about the driving experience, just like the s2k.

40k cad was also what people paid for the celica gt-s back then, so it's a fair price imo.

i thought the RSX-S/Celica GT-S was both priced around 32-33k...even after taxes and fees it shouldn't be more than 37-38k?

pretty excited to see this car go into production soon.. hopefully we'll see them at the end of next year.

I wonder how well the perform against Gen coupes...even though I'm sure it won't even fall in the same price category.

hmm? was it? I thought gts was closer to 36 pre-tax, but regardless I think the price is fair for the ft86

$32k is what i paid for my GT after taxes and that was after going around haggling at every toyota dealership until i went to a celicagarage members dads dealership (new west), everyone else was trying to get me to pay $36 after taxes for the gt -_-

It's gonna cost 40K?? Sounds fair...
although I thought it was gonna be cheaper than that.

Car looks awesome though. Definitely something I'm looking forward to
when I go car shopping in the next few years.

I seriously doubt it'll look like that as the production version.... these sports concepts always look like crap by the time they reach the production verison, such as the 4G ralliart eclipse or the Genesis coupe or even the R35 GTR, i think it looked better as a concept rather than the production version
