It's boring when Jenson was told to push and then the gap from him to Webber on old rubber and a fibrating frontend was widening. Jenson's driving is just too smooth.

Was hilarious seeing Lewis crashed out again... the guy just never knew what happened after crashing out but he knew exactly what happened when he fired his own dad.

Especially after what his dad gave up in life to give Lewis his career that he's enjoying now, way to stab his dad in the back. (And Ron Dennis had to give up his role in Mclaren F1 team because of this bugger's liargate incident too.)

StylinRed

but wow never knew about the dad thing just another reason to hope he loses & gets more DNF's :)

The 1200 horse motors of 1987-1988 were 1.5L V6 turbos...

The V12's came out in 89 and only made about 600-700 horse.

SUcks that the FIA castrates the cars so much.

Oops, yes, you're right!

Pretty boring dude lol after lap 1-2, their was barely no over-taking, it got better after the first pit-stop and near the end it was decent. Robert Kubica beasted from like 12th to 8th in the span of 7 laps or so lol near the end :)

Not to be a :troll: but the first thing I thought when Webber crashed was that he purposefully let himself roll back onto the track, in order to take out Hamilton or Alonso. It seems like he didn't hit the brakes when he could have.

Seems Gehard Berger said the same thing...

http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/245960/horner-brands-berger-crash-comments-ridiculous/

Christian Horner defends

I think it's totally out of the question that he would try to take someone else out. Webber is the head of the driver's union, he's always been about safety.

If you watch the video in the links you can clearly see that the left rear wheel was destroyed, leaving him with only 2 wheels on the ground to stop anyways.

Plus as a racing driver, you first instinct is to continue and survey the damage later. He may have not braked thinking his car was able to continue, and tried to spin it forward.

I don't think in any way Webber would even consider taking someone out. He's not Senna, he's not Schumacher, and there's no past evidence to suggest he is that type of driver.

To me there seems to be some animosity from the Germans (Berger, Marko) against Webber ever since that crash in Turkey. Which imo was Vettel's fault anyways.

So sad that the season is over. Ferrari definately made it a lil more interesting to watch. I give props to Alonso for making a come back and leading the championship, but he's not my pick for who i want to win. I'm really hoping Webber can take it. It would be awesome to see a soft drink company beat out the teams that have been in this since the beginning. If Webber doesn't do it then I would like Hamilton to win it again (even tho his chances are pretty slim). I don't think Alonso deserves it cuz he wouldn't be where he is right now if it weren't for Massa and everyone knows it. It's gonna be a great final race ...

Alonso may be sounding magnanimous now but in the immediate aftermath of the grand prix was seen angrily shaking his fist at Petrov, who Alonso reckons was too "aggressive" given what was at stake.

"I tried to pass him once and he protected like it was the last lap, in the last race in the Championship, fighting both for the Championship, so he was very aggressive.

"But he drove very well, he made no mistakes. I think next year we will try again."

Hulkenburg is out of Williams

Nico Hulkenberg will not be driving for Williams next season, it was confirmed on Monday. Hulkenberg said he had been unable to reach a satisfactory agreement regarding a contract extension with the team. Team mate Rubens Barrichello, however, has been retained for 2011.

“I heavily regret that, because I would have been happy to stay with Williams,” said Hulkenberg, who made his F1 debut at the beginning of this season. “I want to thank the team for a great time and I wish Williams all the best for the future.”

Paying tribute to the driver who recently brought his team their first pole position in five seasons, Frank Williams commented: “I would like to thank Nico for his hard work this year, and before that in preparing himself for Formula One. We are very proud to have supported him as he secured the Formula Three and GP2 titles and during his debut in Formula One.

Well Alonso didn't go away with nothing

Alonso wins DHL Fastest Lap Trophy
The 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship was decided at the very last Grand Prix of the season on Sunday after a dominant drive from Sebastian Vettel, now the sports youngest-ever champion. The winner of the DHL Fastest Lap Award, however, is Fernando Alonso, who recorded five fastest laps during the season. Lewis Hamilton matched that figure, but Alonso holds the highest number of second-fastest laps.

good things come to you when you stay positive. Everytime he lost a race whether it be mechanical failure or his own fault, not once did he blame anyone or anything. Always kept his cool during interviews and just brushed off all the incidents..."thats motorsports... it happens". Robert Kubica's F1 career at risk after rally crash
The wrecked rally car of F1 driver Robert Kubica
The wrecked rally car of F1 driver Robert Kubica is towed away

Robert Kubica's Formula 1 career is under threat after his right hand was partially severed in a high-speed rally crash in Italy on Sunday.

He also suffered arm and leg fractures after his car hit a church wall.

Kubica who drives for the British-based Renault F1 team, had seven hours of surgery after he was airlifted to a hospital near Genoa.

The 26-year-old Pole looks at least likely to miss the entire 2011 season, which starts in Bahrain on 13 March.

Initial reports suggested he was in danger of losing his hand, although those fears were later played down.

However, Professor Mario Igor Rossello, a specialist surgeon involved in the lengthy operation, said that it was too early to accurately assess the long-term implications of his injuries.

Rossello told reporters he was "moderately satisfied" with the operation to rebuild the hand, but said that it would be several days before doctors could determine whether the hand would be "able to return to full function".

He added: "The danger is, in five-seven days you can have vascular problems, and we could do surgery again to solve these problems."

When asked what the best prognosis for recovery would be, Rossello replied: "One year. One year is the best provision."

The doctor said he expected the driver to recover "enough functionality for him to resume his activity."

KUBICA STATS & FACTS
Robert Kubica

Team: Renault
Former team: BMW Sauber
Team-mate
Vitaly Petrov
Nationality: Polish
Born: 7/12/1984, Krakow
Grand Prix debut: Hungary 2006

He was operated on after reportedly being trapped in his car for more than an hour while specialist cutting equipment arrived in Peitra Ligure.

Kubica also needed surgery in 2003 after a serious road accident as a passenger that left him with titanium bolts in his arm.

Reports suggested that Kubica was 4.6km from the start of the Ronde di Andora rally on Sunday morning when his Skoda Fabia crashed. His co-driver Jakub Gerber escaped from the wreckage unharmed.

It is understood a crash barrier penetrated the footwell of the car.

Two-time world F1 champion Fernando Alonso was reportedly among the visitors at hospital as leading figures in the sport supported their stricken colleague.

As the operation took place, Kubica's manager Daniele Morelli told reporters at the Santa Corona Hospital: "Surgeons are trying to re-establish the functionality of his right hand."

He added: "Robert is very strong and he will do it."

A statement from Renault said Kubica had been diagnosed with multiple fractures to his right arm, leg and hand.

The former driver for the BMW Sauber team regularly competes in rallies and was driving a week after a successful testing session in the new Renault car in Valencia , ahead of the season's opening grand prix in Bahrain.

Kubica had been due to lead the Renault team alongside Russian Vitaly Petrov, who has a long-term contract after signing for the 2011 and 2012 season during the winter.

The reserve drivers for 2011 include Bruno Senna - who raced for Hispania last season - and Frenchman Romain Grosjean, who drove for Renault as a replacement for Nelson Piquet Jr in 2009.

It is likely that either of these drivers will be called up for the second pre-season test which starts in Jerez on Thursday.

Kubica was an impressive performer last season to finish in eighth position in the drivers' table, securing second at Melbourne and a third in Monaco and Belgium.

The Krakow-born star also suffered a bad crash at the Canadian Grand Prix in 2007 and was forced to miss one race. He returned to the same track the following year to claim his first Formula 1 victory.

Kubica's F1 colleagues have been sending messages of support.

Britain's former world champion Jenson Button, who drives for McLaren said on his Twitter page: "Shocking news about Robert Kubica. I wish him a speedy recovery."

Williams driver Rubens Barrichello tweeted: "I would like to ask you for your best wishes to Kubica. He is being operated right now. We all like him and he deserves all the best."

Heikki Kovalainen, of Team Lotus, said: "All thoughts on Kubica tonight, he's a great guy, lets hope operations go well and he makes full recovery."

Sebastian Buemi, of the Torro Rosso team, told his Twitter followers: "All my support to Robert Kubica. I am with you man"

Kubica in induced coma after crash

Herald News Services February 7, 2011 1:03 AM

Auto Racing - Formula One driver Robert Kubica is in an induced coma following surgery for injuries sustained in a "high-speed" crash Sunday at the Ronde di Andora Rally in Italy, his Lotus Renault GP team said.

Kubica underwent a seven-hour operation at Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure after suffering multiple fractures to his right arm and leg, the team said. "Severe cuts" to his forearm may have an impact on the use of his right hand, the team added in an e-mailed statement. "Doctors are reasonably satisfied with the way the operation went. Robert's condition remains stable, but serious. He has been placed into an induced coma and could be woken up in the morning."

The accident came five weeks before the 2011 Formula One season starts and places doubt over whether the 26-year-old Pole will be healthy enough to compete.

Kubica likely 'out for a year'
Robert Kubica's surgeon has confirmed that the Pole is unlikely to return to racing in 2011 following his rally accident on Sunday.

The doctor heading up the surgical team overseeing Robert Kubica's immediate recovery from Sunday morning's rally accident in Italy has confirmed that the Pole is unlikely to race this season, but held out hope for the longer term.

Once initial fears that Lotus Renault GP driver Kubica may lose his right hand to amputation had begun to fade, Professor Igor Rossello explained that the next few days would be critical in determining the Pole's long-term prognosis, but suggested that his patient's signs were promising.

"We will see in the next few days what will happen," Rossello, director of the Regional Centre of Hand Surgery at San Paolo Hospital in Savona, told Reuters reporters after emerging from seven hours of surgery on Kubica's hand and forearm., "The danger is that, in five or seven days, we could have vascular problems, and he could have to have surgery again to resolve the problems. However, at the end of the operation, Robert's hand was well vascularised and warm, which is encouraging. I expect him to recover enough functionality to resume his activity."

Whilst admitting that Kubica, who topped the final day of testing in Valencia last week, was likely to be out of action for at least a year, the surgeon suggested that his status as an elite athlete may enable him to recover in a shorter period of time than normal.

"One year is the best provision [for recovery, but] drivers are always very special patients," he noted, "I have a lot of motorbike patients and they heal in the fastest way possible, much faster than normal people."

As well as the serious concerns over his hand, multiple fractures to his right leg and arm after his Skoda Fabia RS careered off the road and into the wall of a church, badly deforming its front-end. Reports also suggest that a section of guardrail penetrated the cockpit area, likely causing the extent of Kubica's injuries. Co-driver Jakub Gerber emerged unscathed from the accident, which occurred on the opening stage of the Ronda di Andora, but the Pole was reportedly trapped in the car for more than an hour before being cut free.

The ANSA news agency reports that Kubica's car has been impounded by police, while initial suspicions point to the combination of a wet road and protruding tree roots as a possible reason for the accident.
