Windshield claim
Did a search and couldn't find anything.
I have a cracked windshield and am looking to claim it through ICBC. For those with older cars, any idea if they replace the windshield moulding as well?
Also, does anyone have any recommendations as to where to get it done?

What car?
90+% of cars have the windshield attached to the body with a urethane adhesive and the trim just goes between/on top. I just had the windshield done on my 4x4 and it just uses a rubber strip and another strip of rubber to compress it against the body.
BTW iirc if the car was stationary when it happened, it might be a $300 deductible but if the car was being driven it could be $200, Post the vehicle because sometimes it's cheaper to do it privately.

^ the $200 is ONLY if its a rock or a form of flying missile that hits the windshield haha

'twas a rock chip from highway driving that I never bothered fixing until now as the crack is beginning to spread wider and wider..

I replaced my windshield in November by a glass shop called "Rapid Auto Glass" in coquitlam near the Ikea.
Basically it went something like this:
Drove to them and went inside, told them i wanted to replace my windshield and i wanted to go thru ICBC. Gave them my insurance papers and filled out a form. They really don't care whether or not the crack is due to a flying rock on a highway, they just want a date when the crack happened. They did not even go outside to examine my windshield. You can bullshit the "Date of Loss", I wrote down the first month and date that popped in my head. Dropped off my keys, they gave me a courtesy car, and I went home. Went back to them the day after at noon and my car was done. They used OEM glass too. (which Speedy does not)
All in all, I did not need to personally deal with ICBC, they do that for you. And I got a new windshield installed within 24 hours.
All I had to pay was $200. The invoice they gave to ICBC was over $1000.
(They do interior cleaning of the dash and give you a set of new wipers too)

^ LOL when i was working, some guy came in to me telling me that i fked up his insurance cuz i put a $300 deduct on his comp, and he was charged for $300 cuz his wind shield was changed out.. after some arguing.. i found out that an angry gf bashed the windshield.. so icbc covered it under vandalism which was the $300

I got dinged by a rock on the freeway. Waited too long for the chip fix. The crack has now spread a third of the way up the windshield. Went to ICBC and got paperwork done. Lucky for me, I had replacement coverage. So Broco in Coquitlam is the place to go? How's the place next to Sounds Good?

Broco or the other place?
Fafine - it depends. I've had a crack go 6" across the windshield after doing a hard corner. I've also had others that went unchanged for months.

just under 2 days......
The ding was about the size of a dime and close to the bottom of the windshield, just above the wipers. It looked pretty innocent. The change in temperature may have been the cause. Car was parked facing the sun. Morning was cold and overcast, but by the time I left work, it was hot and sunny. This is the second ding on my windshield. The first one, I got fixed ASAP and that was the end of that.
I'm thinking the chip being near the edge of the glass was a big factor in it spreading so fast.

What?!? I always thought you were retired and posted on here to get your daily dose of humor. You get paid while posting on here?
I have a new respect for you, sir.
I went to speedy on kingsway and 12th a couple months back to claim for the stupid kids who lit a m80 on my windshield. Honestly, i wasn't satisfied with the job they did at the end. The moulding on my car was never replaced, infact it looks like its falling off/detached from my windshield. Plus they didnt even give me the proper windshield for my car, they gave me a windshield for a different series model.

i went to speedy on barnett in coquitlam. had to bring my car back 3 times because the windshield kept leaking... wouldnt go there again, gonna try broco or rapid next time... if rapid uses OEM glass for all cars, that would definitely be my choice.

Rapid has a lifetime warranty on "workmanship", ie leaks, as long as you still own the car =D

Anyone gone to the Broco in Burnaby? Did you have a good experience or bad experience?
Wow, forgot about this thread. I ended up going to Broco in Coquitlam. Awesome service. Detailed the entire car. The car looked newer than the day I drove it off the dealership. Seats were still kind of wet, but they put plastic on it. Everything was put back to normal. Cables and wires for radar detector (hard wired) Compustar transmitter, microphone for stereo, bluetooth, etc. Broco, FTW!

I'll toss in an echo that Broco in Coq is good. My family has used them a few times. In Langley, I've used Apple Auto Glass (200 and 64) a few times, and I've been satisfied with the service.
Get those dings fixed ASAP! Unless you have more pits in your windshield than a large golf ball, where it might be worth replacing the windshield, fixing dings are cheaper than the $200 windshield deductible! I've learned my costly lesson :)

I went to Broco in Burnaby to get my windshield replaced. Everything went fine and the staff were friendly and I picked up the car after work yesterday. BUT today I noticed the windshield looks really wavy! If I drive and look at the car next to the car in front of me, the straight lines (i.e. trunk edge) would not be straight and is sort of wavy.
Is it due to the cheaper than OE glass they use? It's PGW glass which should be OEM quality. I didn't have this problem with my previous windshield. I am going to go back and see what they say tomorrow and hopefully it will be resolved. If not what else can I do? This is an ICBC claim.

They used OEM glass too. (which Speedy does not)
Either you had a replacement part policy, windshield was N/A aftermarket or the OEM glass is cheaper than aftermarket (yes this happens all the time)
They will not use OEM glass on everyones car so don't go there thinking you will get OEM everytime because this is wrong.
I would stay away from Speedy from personal experiences. From what other people have said i would goto broco.

I have a mobile glass guy who comes to my shop on a regular basis (for windshields) he is almost always cheaper then the icbc deductible and always uses OEM replacements or equivalents. Call or PM me if you want me to arrange a quote.
Anyone know where I can get a chip fixed and about how much it would cost?
It is smaller than the size of a quarter.
