My friend lost a bet to me and the wager was a free dinner to anywhere. So i need your guys help to make a list of a the most expensive place to eat in town lol. I'm talking about 50 dollar plus for a steak the size of a toonie so i would have to order 3 of them.

Most expensive place would be restaurants with the oldest wine on their wine list.. you can walk out 30k lighter or more. Meat like steak are cheap. It is wine and truffles that cost the money.

Bishops is a great restaurant. Probably not the most expensive but I doubt you'll find too many places in the city where you can have better food.

I thought there was that new rule where your alcohol tab could not exceed your food tab. Therefore buying a $30,000 bottle of wine would require $30,000 worth of food? Or was that just all talk and wasn't passed.

It got thrown out I think.. However any high end restaurant wills get you some white truffle in anything (pre order).. the more you add.. the more it will be.. add a few ounces into everything you order will easily add a few extra digits to the bill.

a free dinner to anywhere.

if i were you, id tell him to go fly you out to England and have a go at The Fat Duck.

heard it was one of, if not THE best restaurants in the world. that is, if my definition of "anywhere" is the same as yours.

Food can only cost so much. Unless you eating something exotic or in high demand. And you can only eat so much. But wine on the other hand. ;)

Fat Duck is 45 minutes west of London, ranked high due to Heston Blumenthal's micro gastronomy techniques. The current top restaurant in the world is El Bulli south of Barcelona on the coast. They only accept bookings for the coming season from midnight January 1st. I emailed them right at the stroke but had my application (for the requested weekend) rejected last week.

Because El Bulli will be closed for 2 years.

+1

Also, Tojo's is good as a la carte sushi adds up quick. Le Crocodile is a great restaurant as well. Nothing but good things to say about it since I went last time.

if you want to waste money sure.. Tojos, go in before hand, tell the reception you want to spend 1000 a head + 500 drinks. bam, done.
call up West tell them u have 2500 dollars to spend and tell them to fax over a menu that's suitable for your budget.

it's been done before.

bets are usually when a few guys are buzzed and we're betting on a fwe drinks or be a wing man to tap a fat chick, nothing that crazy on a 2000 dinner.

This is how:

Contact the usual suspects, le Crocodile (http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2009/09/le-crocodile-surprise-field-trip-today.html), Lumiere (http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2009/04/meeting-daniel-boulud.html), Market by Jean-Georges, (http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2009/01/market-by-jean-georges-vancouver_25.html) Cioppino's (http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2009/05/pino-posteraro.html), Tojo's (http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2009/12/hidekazu-tojo-visiting-us-today.html), have them do up a $2,000 all in tasting menu for two with wine pairing, and see how they get back to you.

At Cioppino's they should give you the small private room in the front, and feel free to PM me if you are not sure if the wine they offer are any good.

To let your friend know you are not a complete jerk, tell him that as of last Friday, they still have the 1945 Mouton-Rothschild at $12,500 at le Crocodile and you are not going that route. Back then, it was still a 2nd growth under the 1855 Classification (http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2010/01/official-1855-classification.html).

For comparison, here is a $500 charity dinner last year cooked by the same top chefs in Vancouver. They all did one dish (http://imperialhotelmanagementcollegestudent.blogspot.com/2009/01/greatest-meal-ever-served-in-vancouver.html).

Have fun.

go to places which cater to the actors and pro atheletes - bacchus, cioppinos, blue water etc.

those are guaranteed to run your bill through the ringer
