I was wondering if synthetic oil change is necessary for this type of car, or should I just do a regular oil change. This car is not turbo by the way and it has 167,000 kms.

Really depends on the age, mileage and the engine. I use to have one of those, so assuming it has high mileage I would be using synthetic by now.

for your car i wouldn't bother using synthetic.. depending on mileage i'd use 5w30 or 10w30
i'd recommend 10w30, synthetic although not proven, can cause leaks in older vehicles

So the best thing to do is get synthetic? It has 167,000kms on the car, and regular oil change shoud not be used?

You can also try high mileage motor oil

I used to work at a place that did oil changes. Cars that used regular oil ran fine withdouble that mileage. If it leaks or burns oil try high mileage oil. But imo. Regular conventional 5 or 10w30

NO.
He's saying that synthetic can cause or further exploit existing leaks. Do a regular oil change w/ high mileage oil.
