Hey guys,
Used to go to this place for tinting/wheels/tires etc.
Anyone been to it since the big changes in staff? I need to get my winter tires taken off and summers put back on, but also planning on buying some wheels soon.
Anyone have any experience with them recently? I really liked the previous staff and work.
thanks

DO NOT GO TO ADVANCE IN COQUITLAM!!
- I had a bad feeling about them since they changed ownership. Wife went in to get winter tires taken off and summers put on. Came home after work and looked at my rims (they are 19inch stock rays) and they have a fine black scratch almost 360 degress on each rear rim. I did the exact same thing in winter time and had no issues - rims were flawless.
I tried calling them now and no answer. I will be calling them back.
Bill 140 dollars and already paid...i just paid 140 dollars to get my rims scratched for no reason.

Well what i meant to say is the staff....man im pissed. One thing i hate is paying people a price that you think you would get quality but you get shit. I might as well of went to Canadian tire and got some 16year old to scratch my rims and pay half the price.
You cant trust anyone these days to do a quality job.

if it's $125 to install, omg, sth is not too right...
hc529
02-21-2010, 02:01 AM
Its already mounted/balanced.
So... $125 was like... wtfff
before, i had 4 rims/tire mounted/balance for only like around 100-120$
so i thought it'd be cheaper just to put the winter wheels on..
5 Zigen
02-21-2010, 02:33 AM
what the heck that's a fucking rip off! I think I know a shop that charges $60 but they will rebalance all tires just to make sure no vibration after install (which i think make sense too), but $125!!!
in general that's about a $2x job with brake inspection (on disc brakes)...
no one ever question about the price when they drop it off? or after they were asked for that price?

someone pay me $100 and i will do it for you. hahaha
i have been going to shops and dealerships to swap my wheels/tires for the past 2 years. each time, it was nothing over $20 for all 4.
last boxing day, i bought my own set up so i can do it myself.
1. impact drill $50
2. torque wrench $30
3. jack $20
4. 32ft extension cord $15
best of all, i don't need to load 4 tires into my car and take it back out.

If I remember correctly they charge different prices for mount and balance for different size wheels. So someone with 18s would pay less than someone with 19s
But i also havent been there since last summer so maybe thats changed

Ya just to clarify i got winter tires dismounted and summer tires mounted and balanced for 140 - which i thought was fair and didnt even mind paying more as long as it was a quality job (what i previously experienced at Advance)
Don't they have that special mounting machine that is "touchless" or whatever. That ferrari uses? I remember seeing that on their previous website. Maybe they sold that machine now? Something definitely touched and raped my rims.
Any other shops that have that high tech mounting machine that you guys know of? I'm really disappointed that Advance has gone downhill. I just got a new car and was excited to get some new wheels and performance mods at a place I could trust and was comfortable with. I guess now I have to find somewhere else..................
im not surprised at the price of $140 actually.
when i was calling around i got quotes between $25-35 per tire! BEFORE tax!
what happened to the good ol days where it was $15 a tire?
good thing i know a guy who does it for cheap.

^ canadian tire still is $15/tire
just to chime in about prices when i worked there
prices were for each tire for mounting&balancing:
$15 for 16" and under
$20 for 17"
$25 for 18"
$35 for 19"
$45 for 20"
$5 to dismount
just to mount or just to balance was 1/2 the price listed.
prices are and still are on par with most places.
unless u go to some el super cheap place that has a tire machine that is older than u.

Yeah. Let's have some fucktard who gets paid minimum wage to mount tires on your expensive rims.
But you save $10 WHOLE DOLLARS ON EACH ONE! THATS LIKE $40!.
$40 < Scratched rims.
But to fuck up when you have such a nice machine and charge that much is bullshit.

dont know why ppl aint willing to pay a bit more on mounting their fresh rims. I mean we are talking what? 40-60 dollar more at the most? vs couple thousand dollar rims? it should be next to nothing

The thing you're all forgetting is, the quality of work isn't based on the shop, it's based on the people working there.
A guy with no experience using a Corghi machine will fuck up just as much as guy using an old school pry bar style machine. Trust me I've seen it happen.
That being said, most of you are getting ripped off at the prices I'm hearing.
I've done 25 series 22" with no problem scratching the rims, both reverse mount and regular mount styles on the OLD school prybar machines. Like i said it really depends on who does it, and the experience level they have.
And 125 bucks to swap on tires? It's roughly 40/50 bucks at my place and I'll even balance them for free. 125 is how much it costs to balance/mount. Yikes.

:werd:
The shop I go to for getting tires mounted and balanced will actually do it for the price of a 24 pack of timbits, when it's not simply free. It's not a Canadian Tire nor a fly-by-night "performance" type shop and they do have both new and old school mounting machines. I've never had a problem with scratched rims before, regardless of which method I saw them use. It all boils down to experience. Even an "idiot-proof" machine can still do damage if someone new isnt' familiar with it.

You can also goto www.thespeedsyndicate.com
I've known them for years and they just opened up the shop. They have the touchless Corghi machine which also does runflats. Pretty heafty machine and I know that they are VERY well verse on it since they've been using it previous to their new business. Give them a shot.
The owner has been working on my car for 2 years now and has done all the mods that I couldn't do on my driveway. Totally trustworthy. I was there today and they're working on some custom mods to make an S55 and CLS55 faster. They've already modded the CLS55 to run an 11.344@124.8 1/4 mile at the drags with more mods to come. I'd say they know what they're doing.
