Great article about the Integra type R and how it matches up with the new civic si.

I just read that, and it was a pretty good article.
The ITR is probably the best fwd car ever built, and will always be my generation's "hot rod".

There's one shitty thing about the ITR: Stupid Resale Value. It is hard to spend 15k for a 12 year old car.

How's the Prelude SH handle compared to the ITR?

For me, I've always felt the ITR felt more nimble and more visceral (you hear that word alot when asked about the ITR).

BUT, the lude is no slouch either and I am sure someone will bring up that Car and Driver article where the Lude was the best FWD handling car (I still wonder they didn't include the ITR). If you ever drive a lude though, it just feels heavier but more stable.

I feel old now. I remember in HS, when my buddy got a SH in that Silver blueish colour and another of my buddies grabbed an ITR. I was too poor and settled for a GSR

yes, so people who owned it from new or fairly new has the good end of the stick. That goes for all cars that are "cool" and have "pedigree".:)

I've driven it before and I gotta say it was real good...but I couldn't really get used to the throttle for DD...too used to DBW =/

This article sums up why I buy cars based on feel and not numbers. Driving enjoyment is not a spec sheet.

I hate drive by wire throttle. Driving an older car always feels perfectly natural and afterwards I always need to readjust to the DBW cars I've owned.

how's your GTI compare to your Type-R? from a general perspective?

anyone who's driven a type r and a si would take the type r because its "a little" fast but the si is newer, more reliable, looks good, rides better and the k-series motors are build well.

how's your GTI compare to your Type-R? from a general perspective?

type-r was more raw. obviously felt more special. radio? air con? sound deadening? who needs that??? i was more attached to that itr than i am with my gti now. but i was much younger (and dumber) back in the day when i had it so i'm seeing things in a different perspective now. burying the tach to stay within the vtec powerband and then watch the po-po lights come on in my rearview mirror had more of an appeal back then than it does now :lol

if i were able today, i would buy a stock itr and a shop manual and learn as much as i could to "restore" it and keep it just for weekends.

there is so much tech stuff in the gti i'm left scratching my head no matter how much i try to read up about it (or i'm just dense/old).

but i can't deny turbos have their own special kind of rush too...

I wonder how the Civic Si would do if you stripped it down to the same "raw" level of the Type R...

I'm more impressed with cars that can be quick, and still retain all the creature comforts.
