Lexus is planning on taking on the BMW M5 with the GS-F, which will be powered by the LFA's V10 engine. The GS-F is expected to arrive in 2013 with a detuned version of the LFA's 4.8L V10. Engineers are currently working on bringing the engine size down to 4.6 liters with a final output around 450-hp.
In addition to the V10 engine, the GS-F will also be fitted with Toyota's first torque vectoring differential, which is similar to the system used on BMW's M cars. The system actively apportions drive between the rear wheels to improve handling.
A new SC is also due in mid-2014, which will be a hybrid with a 5.0L V8 mated to an electric motor.

How exactly are they looking to "take on" the M5 (in 2013, mind you) with a 450 hp normally aspirated 4.6L V10? I notice the article doesn't cite a source, so either: a) the article is just fluff, b) they don't intend the GS-F to actually compete with the M5, or c) Toyota needs to give their collective heads a shake.

Why don't Lexus just shoehorn the LF-A's V10 into the GS and call it a day.

They claim that at $300,000+, they still loose money for every LF-A. Thus the detuned version would most probably have cheaper parts and cost less to manufacture.

Hopefully that doesn't include sticky gas pedals :)

480hp with sticky gas pedal will make you the fastest driver in the world momentarily.

There were two separate recalls. Only toyota has the sticky pedal, lexus is not affected by this recall.
Lexus has a recall for floormat redesign because of the mat slipping under the pedal.

what's the cost of engine though? does it really worth it putting another $$$ and detune the engine?
LFA's expensive price tag includes carbon fiber everything, titanium exhauts, etc..

if this is true it would kill the exclusiveness of the LF-A...even if it's detuned

True but don't forget, this is gonna be a "common" production car that they will make in the thousands and have to warranty for 3?5? years. Not to mention it would probably cost way too much to service and maintain if they simply ported the LF-A's V10, they DO have to keep it close (most likely CHEAPER) to the M5's price tag.

looks promising..;)
my gen GS went from 98-05, so thats 7 years. current one came out in 06, so its already 4 years into production, its possibly they will stick with the same body style as the current one.
remember when they label it 2013, it actually means its out by 2012, or fall of 2011.
haha, reminds me of a funny thing a friend said to me the other day
me: "look in the rear view mirror! that corolla is tailgatting me!"
buddy: "maybe he's just got a sticky gas pedal?"

The GS 350/460/450h have a completely different gas pedal than any other Toyota/Lexus...it is the push down type not the type that hangs from the top (with the exception of the 06 GS AWD I believe).
I don' think they can shoehorn the V10 engine in on the 3GS, as the GS 460 engine barely fits into the bay and is forced to use a single intake due to space (unlike the LS, which has dual intakes for the same engine). The picture is of the current GS, which will be redesigned soon.
