| Do You know of a Facility with a weight room + Pool ?
Hey guys,
I'm looking for a facility that has both a weight room and a pool.
I've gotten a 1 month free pass for Steve Nash (richmond) and it was amazing to say the least. After my work out I would always do laps which helped me cut weight and tone up pretty well. So i'm looking for any other facilities which have the weight room + pool combo...
The only other facility I know of is Watermania...
The reason why i'm looking is because i'm trying to find the cheapest place...
And I can only do month to month as I might be going away for school in September which really impacts the rates I can get... Fee's:
Steve Nash (11pm close)- $79 a month + $50 membership fee
WaterMania (10pm close) - $57 /month, $46/month (3month pass)
Sports Central (24hours) - $40 /month
My old gym is Sports Central.. I was only paying $20 a month on a contract.. but without a contract they're charging me $40... and they don't have a pool and there is always a wave of BO when you walk into SC...
Watermania would be my only other option.. but their weight room is a joke.. and it's always busy... As well, they put soo much chlorine in their pools because of their turnover and the fact there are soo many kids... so that sucks...
Thanks guys..

Hmm, I work at Chimo, and CCAC pools in Coquitlam. But seems like those would be far for you, they both have nice gyms and nice pools/sauna/steam...
Just look most rec centres and community water facility's, they usually have a gym with their pool.
Sorry, I'd thought i would've had more off the top of my head.

sounds like you live in Richmond?? There are a few in Vancouver. I am thinking of mostly community centers though like renfrew and killarney. I think they're all around the same price for a gym/pool pass except for killarney. But I can't remember. Quality wise, Killarney seems good for swimming. I dont know about their gyms though they seem to be packed.
And which school do you go to? If you go to UBC or SFU you can use their facilities for free or you might have to pay a little extra like in the case of the gym at UBC SRC.

There's teh YMCA on 49th beside Langara College. If you're a student, you can provide your course schedule and get the student rate which is ~$40/month now.

I go to UBC currently but their free hours are random and all over the place.. and i like going around 8pm or so those randomized hours don't work for me... but i guess i'll just keep looking.
ThankS!

South Vancouver? Definitely check out Killarney as ziggyx said if you want a weight room + pool for a reasonable monthly fee.

The Weight room is privately owned... So there isn't a membership that includes both... =/

I mean you could always go to YMCA or get a Vancouver Community Centre pass.
They actually have a special going on right now where you pay $20.10 for a 20 trial pass for all Community Centre. http://vancouver.ca/parks/rec/goplay/goplayad.htm
I used to go to the Jewish Communty Centre on 41st and Oak which was a pretty solid place. I lucked out and got the Student Fee too without providing proof and it was like $30 and still is otherwise it's $60/month http://www.jccgv.com/home/membershipFees.htm

I just checked all the Vancouver CC's...
it looks like Kensington is the only CC that has both a pool and a weight room..
but their weight room is the size of my living room...
Does anyone know of anywhere else?
Chances are i'll just go with the Watermania 6month pass which works out to be $38 a month.
F - if only steve nash would take $50 a month!!! FUKKKKKKKKKERS

The vancouver CC facilities aren't very good. The only place that has both a swimming pool and a weight room is Kensington.. and their weight room doesn't have nearly enough for what I need.
The jewish CC - does it have a weight room? I couldn't seem to find one under their facilities option?
and at $100 initiation fee and $30 for student it makes it $46 a month for 6 months... so that is also a possibility I guess. A little far though.

A little far though. | Yes they have a full gym with of course your standard machines, squat rack, benches, free weights, etc. I actually liked it there when I used to go, everything was new unlike alot of the CC's and it had everything I needed so no complaints there.
The one thing though that pissed me off and drove me fucking up the wall was the fucking amount of Jewish Holidays they had. I swear like every couple weeks id show up only to find it closed because it was yet another holiday for them.

I go to UBC too and I work out a lot at the Bird Coop; it's $25 A SEMESTER and the equipment is seriously better than all the community/rec gyms. The acquatic centre at UBC is also free the entire day now (that includes pool, sauna, gym, etc.). It's only really a 1-2 min walk from bird coop.

I'd go for Steve Nash out of the ones you mentioned. With the Steve Nash pass you can use all fitness world locations as well (if you travel around a lot). Btw north shore and burnaby fw have swimming pools too Posted via RS Mobile |
