I want a screamer!
No, not like my second g/f, LOL.
I'm talking about ice cream and slushie. I only know of two places (I live a sheltered life) that make it. One in Bradner (Abbotsford) and one in Walnut Grove (Langley). I'm sure there are more places out there. I live in North Burnaby, so anywhere in Burnaby or Vancouver would be great. And no, I don't do Richmond.

there's supposedly a machine at chevron or husky at the intersection of King Ed and Oak. I read it on a blog a while back so i can't say for sure.

That actually sounds delicious..
And here I was, about to post some screamer.gif's
So people know what screamers are? Awesome. I thought they were like hard to find.
King Ed and Oak, eh? Kind of far, but on a hot summer day, they are great........ brain freeze city.

OMG!!!! I remember these! They were amazing! Although, I think the place you're referring to in Walnut Grove, Red Rooster's (and various other names) is long gone. That's where I used to get mine at when I walked home from school.
Where's this place in Bradner? I live in Abby and I feel this information falls under the "need to know" category.

Yeah, Red Roosters is history. Too bad.
Bradner General Store, of course. Downtown Bradner is like....... come to think of it, the general store is downtown Bradner. I came upon the place when I attended the Bradner Flower Show and May Day celebration. The store is the heart of Bradner. It is right where the railroad crosses Bradner Road. The general store is a very interesting place. Not quite Corner gas, but it does have a pair of pumps, post office, candies galore, and a coffee shop (probably the world's smallest).
Being from Abby, you must know about Clayburn Village. That candy store there is out of this world.

Danny's Market in Richmond!! and Baguette Time on Davie I think? Can't go wrong with an orange Crush screamer. Tastes just like a creamsicle.
AVOID the King Ed one. Disgusting. I wouldn't even call what they have "ice cream"

I never knew such food item existed. Now I must try one.... later when it's warmer outside.

I hear ya. Nothing worse than a screamer not done right.
For those who don't know about screamers, it's soft serve combined with slushie. A good one is a piece of art. Some start with a very small layer of soft serve at the bottom, then a bit of slushie, then another layer of soft serve. The soft serve has to be the right consistency.
If and when I win the lottery, the first thing I buy is a slushie machine and a soft serve machine. Screamers anytime I want. Oh, then I'd buy a real pizza oven.
And.......... just for my buddy there in one of the previous posts, a cotton candy machine. LOL.

used to live 1-minute drive away from danny's. damn those screamers were good.... especially with their fresh baked bread sticks and pizza.. mmm
but i believe they switched owners and the last time i had their screamer, the ice cream was shit. Icecream wasnt smooth and creamy at all like it used to be and had little bits and chunks. fucking gross. Tried getting a refund and the guy refused. I even told him to try it from the machine himself and he refused. that motherfucker.. that was the last time i had a screamer.....
Danny's in richmond. its like garden city and something, blundell right?

^ well, reading from the previous posts it seems the quality has decreased quite a bit
and yeah I remember getting one a year ago and the ice cream seemed kind of lumpy, now that people mentioned it. It won't stop me from getting one on the warm summer days when I'm in the area, though.
i think danny's market started screamers
i might be wrong though

Screamers at Danny's Market & Pizza, Richmond BC
29 Jun
2009
I saw Yum-O-Rama’s post about Screamers and followed it to the post on Five Loaves. Screamers are slushies with soft-serve ice cream, something that I hope catches on at other convenience stores. I’ve read that the Husky at King Ed and Oak has something similar. Can anyone confirm that? There’s a location downtown that Five Loaves has also blogged about called Baguette Time. They also look like the Qrush at Qoola, which is their fresh frozen yogurt with their featured flavor slush.
With the on and off hot summer days we’ve been having, it certainly got my interest, even if it meant driving to Richmond for it. The location certainly isn’t central to much, but that hasn’t deterred me from going three times already…
The first was when I bugged some friends from Richmond to take me. They thought it was amusing that I was making such a big deal about getting these Screamers, but hey, it’s something new! To them, it was nothing new or exciting as they’re used to getting it all the time.
On my first visit, we made it just before they closed, which was 1030pm on Sunday. We even had to phone and double check if they were still open as we were rushing there.

Got a couple to share with other friends, there’s two medium Cream Soda in the back, a small Coke on the left and a small Sour Green Apple in the front. After I took this picture, there was a guy behind me who asked if I was going to put it on the net. That kind of caught me off guard, but since I was in a happy mood after finally getting my hands on one of these Screamers, I said “Of course!” and handed him one of my mini-Moo cards.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/3674331232_d303263c10_o.jpg
I had the Sour Green Apple, and I also got to try a bit of the other flavors. The Cream Soda was good, and it tasted like a creamsicle. The Coke was just really sweet, and that’s partly the reason why I chose to go with Sour Green Apple for mine. I’m not a big fan of sweet things, and I can’t eat much of it. I also figured that the sour slush would compliment the ice cream perfectly, which it did! These are also a lot of fun to eat, as you can scoop, slurp and mix them continuously.
I went back last Thursday, as I had a craving that just had to be satisfied. I dragged a friend to come with me to get one, and I noticed the specials this time around. Since I had just had dinner, I didn’t feel like having anything. My friend got a slice of pizza and a samosa along with her screamer, but both food items were pretty disappointing and bland. My advice, stick with the screamers.

I got my Sour Green Apple again, since I figured why bother with a good thing. My friend tried the Blueberry, which I found to be super sweet also.

Not pictured is my third visit just this Sunday…this time I had Crush Lime. It wasn’t super sweet as the other flavors I’ve tried so far, so I would probably try that again. Three visits in one week, I think that says something… go try it and let me know what you think.
I've never tried it before... seems pretty good! :eek5x:

Wow never heard of these. Orange would be awesome
the fact that you don't do Richmond means a big fat fail for you....That's where it started and that's where you have to go to get it.
That's nice to know. A store puts up a sign that claims it was the first................... to call it a "screamer". Big deal. In the post above yours, the idea was copied from places in the US. That, I can believe. Screamers, as we know it, go by other names throughout Canada and the US.
Not here to debate where it all started, but hey, if you love Richmond and consider it the centre of the universe, then cool. I won't give your post a big fat fail. I'll just give it one of these.:D
Which is better than just ignoring your post.

Danny's Market in Richmond!! and Baguette Time on Davie I think?
Danny's and Baguette Time are the only places that make it proper.
Most Husky stations have them but like mentioned, the ice cream quality isn't the greatest.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Baguette Time yet? There's your quick and easy fast fix.
baguette time davie st. - Google Maps
I believe its the same owners as from Danny's Market in Richmond. Usually I order the almond roca screamer when I go to either locations. Sick of the creamsicle flavour; getting old and wanted to try something new. And their's is only soft-serve ice cream... haven't tried it with real ice-cream before. It's nice, a meal in itself.

Thanks, guys. Baguette Time and the Husky on Lakeview and Grandview sounds great.
Dannys is excellent
They used to have a special: ANY size screamer & slice of pizza & 3 bread sticks for like 6 bucks
They dont have that anymore but I'm gonna go anyways. Thanks for reminding me

Danny's definitely the best I've tried. My fave is either blue raspberry or cream soda
UBC Snack Attack downstairs in the SUB used to have it (that's actually where I got my first screamer), not sure if it's still there or not, haven't been to UBC since I graduated in 2006...
