: HOW TO JAILBREAK IPOD TOUCH 2G?!!

hey guys i been reading and searching up but am afraid of bricking my touch.

can someone give me a link to a step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak a 2G ipod touch?

version 2.2.1

* can i upgrade to newer version and still jailbreak?*

Pretty sure this is all over google. Been awhile since i Jailbroken. You can upgrade firmware but you need to re-jailbreak after everytime. Should be step by step tutorials online w/ pics just google it.

It now only takes like 1click if a button and like 10seconds to jailbreak lol. Id help you but im on my phone. But search up redsn0w, i think thats what the newest one is called from what i remember.

And you cant really brick your iphone or ipod touch. So dont be afraid to try.

turns out my ipod is version 3.1.3 and the blacksnow thing is only 3.1.2

is it possible to downgrade? if so can someone give me a link or method that they have used and work?

i dont plan to upgrade to 3.1.3. but as above, use blackrain. It's simple click, click, done.
I've used redsnow and alternatives in the past, but they required some LibUSB stuff, they probably changed all that by now.

virus thing simplest thing to do is to just change the password using mobileterminal and that will highly reduce the chance of a virus

just download blackra1n and run the program with your ipod usb-connected... click once, wait for reboot, and you're done.

proceed to grab stuff off cydia or whatever it is now

You won't be able to jailbreak a 2g iPod Touch on 3.1.3 unless it's the earlier bootrom. (look at your model - if it starts with MC, you're SOL).

If you don't have an MC version, you can use redsn0w 0.9.4 to jailbreak.

^ yup thats what i did,

if you updated to the newest version 3.1.3

if its 2g and your model# starts with MC your fucked, if its anything else then you can download redsn0w (blackra1n won't work with 3.1.3)

use redsnow 0.9.4 and download the ispw/firmware 3.1.2 ( NOT 3.1.3) and it should jailbreak your 3.1.3
