I bought their stuff a few years before cuz they uses pic of the interior of the car I drove, but didn't like it at all since it looked so greasy. i heard they came out with a new formula that doesn't look as greasy as before now.

it doesn't really look greasy, that might depend on which wipe you're using though
the ones i used just brought out a really nice shine and enhanced the look

That coat isn't going to do jack at brake temperatures.
This is what I was thinking... Even if it got onto the brake pads I don't think it will stay? The heat will likely melt it off... Kinda like when you finish a car wash you should pump your breaks a few times just in case?
On stock OEM wheels i'm sure this should be fine right?
ie. aluminum bimmer wheels?

According to the can I bought yesterday it has no warning labels about spraying on your brakes... you would assume in the highly litigious USA that if there was *ANY* risk whatsoever of it being dangerous for your car they would have something on there.
The only warning of any kind is to spray it in a well ventilated area and it suggests applying in temperatures above 65F

video blocked at work :(
was anyone able to find out if says anything about whether it works on all wheel finishes? ie. chrome, polished, or just painted?
what did the brake dust test involve (again i can't see the video at work)? my worst problem is brake dust that is baked onto the wheel from heat. if they just sprinkled it on a static wheel and then claim it repels.... meh.

That's how much it was at Walmart, too. Walmart loves the number 7, so I think it was actually, $12.97, LOL.
I hope they have it at Superstore. Gotta start using my freaking points. I have like a couple hundred dollars worth in points.

egh i have no patience whatsover... i went to walmart and bought a can of this stuff. there is a small mail-in discount that is on a little tag hanging from the can, but not all the cans had them so buy accordingly.
the weather was dry yesterday, so i went and washed my dad's car with his painted aluminum wheels and did the treatment. it dried overnight and this morning he was out driving in the rain and i just came back from looking at it and.... surprise! although the car is soaking wet from the rain, the wheels are not only just clean, but they are bone dry as well (tires are wet though!)
as for my wheels... i have clear anodized face with a polished lip. i'm still working out the courage to try it (worried it might stain the lips and i hate polishing them) but it's raining now and i park outside so it's going to be a no-go for awhile for me (sigh). damn pagids keep turning my wheels into charcoal briquettes :flamemad:

^ wow crazy
i applied a generous amount on my wheels yesterday around 5pm.
it rained overnight, i drove home in the rain, and checked the wheels this morning.
they look ok, but under inspection you can still see dirty spots. its far from perfect.
still maybe too early to judge.
if they are relatively clean in 4-5 days then i think i'll continue using this product.

after 4 wheels, was the can pretty light? Because, I don't see the can lasting for more than a couple cars max?

03-21-2010, 05:18 PM
it's like hairspray, so it's more of a misting rather than a full blown paint spraycan.
i was pretty stingy when i did it. it didn't give it several coats like some of the video demos did. maybe it needs more to last the 4 week claim armorall says.
twitchyzero
03-21-2010, 05:20 PM
if only this can sustain the effects of tire shine as well..
To the people who applied it to their car...

i was not stingy when i used it. i almost soaked my wheels.
i probably used almost half the can on 4 wheels.
the can is pretty small. more narrow than a hairspray can, and costs $12.99.

I bought this stuff too from canadian tire. I tried it 2 nights ago but I didn't spray on a whole lot of this stuff like in the video above. I drove it in the pouring rain last night and this morning when I went to look at my rims they were relatively clean except a few particles of dirt. It might be too early to judge though.

hmm I though it was just a coat over the wheels that somewhat prevents dirt but also allows dirt to be easily washed out of the wheels. Unless i am assuming wrong.

I think a lot depends on the type of finish your wheels have... in that video you can tell they were brand new super glossy wheels, fresh clearcoat and all...
Unit your wheels look like the clearcoat faded quite a lot so I'm assuming that's why it didn't work as well (not dissing your wheels by the way, just saying that's probably why)
speaking of this I gotta go create another thread I'm trying to have someone clear bra the lips of my new set of wheels

I just picked up a can from Crappy Tire. It comes with a instant $3 rebate on the $13 price.
I will try it out and let you know how it goes. My brembos spit out quite a bit of brake dust weekly, so hopefully this product will minimize the amount of cleaning that is required.

Quoted from another forum:
C'mon guys, you should all be better than believing merlin. It's nothing more than an oil based substance. You can achieve the same exact effect by spraying your wheels with baby oil, and leaving it for an hour to dry.
While I agree, it's a "good product" all they did was stick oil in a bottle.
Looks pretty impressive from the videos. I don't know if it'll have the same effect on matte wheels though. :(

update. does not work that well on my polished lips and anoidized face. just looks like a greasy mess, but it comes off on my finger rather than the scrubbing i usually do. spraying with a spray gun made things worse.
however, my dad's oem silver painted wheels are still fine. waiting to see what it will turn into in the upcoming rainfall though.

Okay so i went and bought this product....first off my rate is 5/10.
Went and cleaned my wheels which had an mirror face and polished lip.... it works well for the first 2 days, and anything after that is a mess.
If you have a lip on your wheels, forget about using this product... it will trap debris and brake dust.
If you intend to wash your car and wheels often with half decent conditioner, expect a white mess all over your nice wheels. Fairly tough to remove with a soft brush as it smears when touched...I had to remove it with steamin hot water and a Megs Brush...fml wasted 15 bucks...dont buy this shit if you have rims that costs a left nut and right kidney...shit will make you work 4x as hard when its time to wash your car.
Oh and btw, THIS SHIT DOESNT REPEL HOT CERAMIC BRAKE DUST. IT FUCKING COOKS IT INTO UR RIM.
