Usually I put my computer to sleep overnight. Then I usually hit the keyboard button and it comes back on. So today I go and do that and a red led lights up on my case and it wont boot up. What does the red light on my coolmaster case mean? It was working fine until today running windows 7.

the motherboard lights up green and the fans keep on spinning but none of my monitors will not turn on. Also, I noticed that the mouse and keyboard don't light up like they do usually.

Do you happen to have 2 display ports on your pc? have you tried running in safe mode?

i have both displays plugged into a videocard. I can't run in safe mode because monitors don't work. They are on standby (i can tell from the blinking lights) and won't go solid.

So it does not even give you a bios screen when it boots up? see if you can try disconnecting one of your display ports.

i did do that. Only have one monitor plugged in right now. I think my main issue is the red LED on my chassis case. Until today, I have never seen it on. I read around online and a lot of topics suggest that I have a shorting issue and others say I have a fault something that involves jumpstarting the powersupply or reset and power switch. I never modified the computer in anyways since forever. Never istalled anything nor moved it physically or opened it up.

It is possible that your power supply has died, is there anyway to get a replacement?

What kind of case is it? (do you have the model of it since a "red light" could mean anything)

Mouse and keyboard not lighting up just means that the USB ports aren't powered up. Like JSunu mentioned, check the power supply first. If that tests good, disconnect all but the crucial components (i.e. keep the CPU, one memory stick, video and your boot drive connected and disconnect everything else)

i'm not sure of the model of the case, ill see if i can find the box later. So I switched out the power supply with my brothers and it still does the same thing not booting up. The fans and stuff stay on and the red light has gone away but still same problem. I'm going to start unplugging things and see how ti goes.

I also swapped his videocard with mine to no avail. My motherboard is an Asus p5ql pro. I searched online and now the only think i can think of is maybe the board died? What are the odds of this happening with todays modern technology?

What card are you using, try listing all the parts off your computer here.

Ok I think I found the issue. When I switched out the ram for some other ram it started working again. Then I switched it back and it died. i'm guessing the ram went cuckoo for coco puffs. What is a good brand that I can buy that will ensure me long term stability at a cost effective price?
