How does the Tamron compare to the 17-55 f2.8 made by Canon?

I own the 17-55mm 2.8 Canon before, and this nearly blows the Canon out of the water. The canon focuses a tad faster due to the USM but for 75% less $$$ it outputs the same image quality. If you're a budget photographer this is one of the top 5 lenses to get IMO.

how is the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM lens? does it have a good zoom?

very good zoom. I love the focus range. It just needs Image Stabilization and this thing would be a beauty. Very very good for the price its worth.
