Got this News1130 alert:
"Fire in Abbotsford, closes South Fraser Way
Fire crews are battling a blaze at South Fraser Way and Ware Street. It will be closed until further notice. "

A friend in Abby had the following FB status:
".... is lucky to be alive. if I had worked my full hours today, I would be dead."

I commented asking if it was related to the fire... he PM'd me:
"Yeah the big fire. Explosion acctually. I'm @ cop shop now"

So... anyone know what's going on???!

Well, I'd replied to him "holy crap... all I saw was a little News1130 email blurb about a big fire that shut SFW down. What blew up?"

He finally sent back, a half hour later, "The whole restaurant. Its gone. Apprently boss was inside. I'm pretty shooken up. Out of a job yet again."

Got this little blurb on cknw.com this morning:

A restaurant at South Fraser Way and Ware Street in Abbotsford is now a pile of debris after a series of explosions and fire late last night.

Nearby residents heard the first of several blasts at 11:30pm.

A huge ball of fire was seen shooting from roof of the "Rain" restaurant, which was closed at the time.

Abbotsford Police say 1 employee was hurt but they're not saying how badly.

The cause of the explosions and fire is suspicious.

Hmm.. Never heard of the "Rain" restaurant. Actually, that might be at the location of the former BluStone restaurant which is at that intersection.

Edit: Nevermind, it's at the former LAX restaurant. That place is shady as hell. Or I guess it WAS shady as hell.

CTV was saying there's going to be an investigation because there's been 3 fires there in the last 2 years


the person who was caught in the fire is in serious condition too
