Change Sorting...Machine
Ronin

Anyone know where there's one of those machines where I can dump a huge amount of coins into and then they would give me bills or whatever? I've got a large jar of change that I would love to get sorted and to have to separate the coins and roll them individually would annoy me to no end.
Haha, they use to have these, but not anymore. I heard they always give wrong change anyways. I suggest you hit up staples and get a change sorter, its like a plastic container that has different levels and it sorts all your change. Unfortunately, you can't sort a lot of it out, and you have to kind of sift it. If you're willing to throw down, there are automatic coin sorters as well, but those will cost you a pretty penny.

I called River Rock and they said that:
1. you have to play. No problem...I play anyways...
2. they don't accept pennies...which is the majority of everyone's change jar.

if you are the type of person pay cash for pumping gas, i suggest you put some dimes and pennies in the car...
you can tell them to put like 10.23 or whatever, its actually a good way to get rid of your change quickly and not wasting it...
Ronin
03-24-2010, 07:47 AM
I don't. That's what credit cards are for. I'm the type of person to get a big jar and then put all change in it at the end of the day.

So people on the phone are full of shit. Walking out of River Rock right now with $165 that weighs grams rather than tons. Took maybe five minutes...and 4 of it was walking.

So you just go up to the "cashier" people and hand them all your change... ?
Ronin
03-25-2010, 11:07 AM
Yep.
Walked in with about ten pounds of change...put it in four of their change cups. Lady ran it through the machine and it comes out all sorted. She pressed a button and it all came out in a bag, one for each denomination.
She said "Your total is $164.92...would you like that in twenties?" Yes. Walk back to car...done.

hmm... I forgot what's that place in metrotown. They sell like random stuff. Like plates
or cups and other porcelain stuff. And kitchen ware too. They always have this Chess set made with shotglasses that's like $10 and cheap $30 poker chip thing. I don't remember what's it called though, but I saw them have a coin sorter thing there.
Anyone know which store I'm talking about?? Sorry, don't remember the name of that place.

I have a 3 foot tall, roughly 8 inches in diameter coke bottle that's almost full... last time I poured it out to change all the coins, it was only 1/5 full and I already got almost $500, I actually sat on the floor and sorted them out, took about 3 hours!

No. The coin changing company charges you 11.9%. You redeem the voucher at Safeway customer service. Safeway gets paid by the coin changing company for use of their floor space.
11.9% at the Robson Safeway store anyway.
dangonay
01-25-2012, 06:33 PM
Yup. 11.9% at the Willingdon Safeway too. Used to be 9.8% when they had them in their stores a few years ago. Ah well, I still took over $100 change their. It's not worth my time to roll it myself.
