Playing HG right now, just beat the first 8 gyms. I played gold when I was a kid too so its pretty awesome. I even found my gameboy and the original gold. When I turned it on, it asked me if I wanted to start a new game :(

Out of all the pokemons I think generation 2 is the best haha. It gets hard to keep track of all these pokemon.

fuck that noise, I'm replaying through an emu of Fire Red, which is just Red but with some gay changes that make it easier and more idiot proof. I would've gone with regular Red but this one has pretty colours and I didn't know of the new gayness until I was already a ways in.

I started Soulsilver with cyndaquil and caught a mareep pretty early on, it was one of my first pokemons since you can get it at the beginning. I would recommend getting that and evolve it to Ampharos, it's hella strong and one of the better electric type you can get in the game i think since I haven't seen any other electric pokemons other than mareep and I just finished the first 8 gyms.
Ampharos is a great help in most gyms too in the first 8 gyms, maybe except for 1 or 2

And level/evolve your togepi as soon as you can once it hatches, it's a great help to the team

Just bought a nice cheap DSi from RS just to play this game (using an Acekard2i and it works perfectly).

Currently playing HeartGold (since the majority seems to be on SoulSilver) and loving every minute of it. Chose Chikorita as my starter.

Still, nothing beats the original 151 with the red/blue/yellow versions. Though I've learned to accept and like up to 250. NOTHING more though. Eff' the rest

Wasn't it also like that for the original blue/red/yellow/gold/silver versions?

For example, evolving Haunter to a Gengar, you're required to trade it with someone.

For those using Acekard or Acekard2i on the other hand, download the AKAIO Firmware 1.6RC1 firmware. SS/HG works 100% great with no freezes or black-screens. Using it myself on my DSi.

tyranitar screws up your team becuase of sandstorm but hes a beast... typhlosion is a weak ass pokemon if you play competitively online. same with politoed. Dragonite is destroyed by icebeam, get salemence if you can.
