V6 or V8 you can't go wrong.....man the base V6 stang will blow the doors off most high performance imports...the Mustang is back better than ever! hard to beat a 6sp manual 5L........this mustang brings back memories when the 88 Mustang GT was launched with an amazing 225hp/300lbs of torque!

Just be careful if you're buying one, as the 'value leader' V6 has a 2.73 rear end, whereas the pony package V6 has a 3.31. You won't be pulling those kind of times with the 2.73, but you will be getting amazing highway fuel economy.

Ford's been making nice cars for a while. If they built a Fusion Hybrid with the Ecoboost V6 and AWD, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Fusion GT... what ever happened to that?

I think I read in one of the reviews that the pony package for the v6 won't be available in Canada. Hope they change that.

I like the 370Z, but your reasons above are ridiculous......... you think lacking a computerized throttle blip for downshifts makes a car "pale in comparison" come on :p

You're getting a car in the Mustang that seats 4 (not 2) and costs wayyyyyy less... the only reasons to buy a 370Z are if you are a diehard fan or you just really, really like the car and have to have it knowing there are better options for less money.

ericthehalfbee
03-31-2010, 06:05 AM
All I can say is WOW. A car for well under $30K with that kind of performance. This car is an absolute performance bargain. Ford has been doing great these last 2 years and this is another reason why.

Only thing that pisses me off is I never bought Ford shares. :(

And comparing to the 370z? Come on, that car starts at almost $13K more. Pretty sad really. Only car that's close in price is the Genesis 3.8, and it's still $5K more.

At 400hp, 0-60 is more a test for the tires and traction.

There is a button to disable the syncromatch. It is a cool technology, but I love to heal toe!!! I can't do it in my MPS6 (damn pedals)

99.5% of RS'ers couldn't even tell a good handling car from a poor one, and certainly don't know anything about concepts like understeer and oversteer (except for what they read).

So hearing someone say the Mustang handles like shit and another car handles good is like listening to a blind motherfucker explain technicolor.

And because of this, they often equate "easier to handle" to "handles better".

Syncro revmatch is just for the lazy ass's who cant do it, and 4.3 in a car with todays saftey standards is pretty good. 370Z is ugly, looks like a batmobile,

isn't the GT a bit overpriced when comparing it to the v6? the GT is $38,5

it'd be great if it was cheaper ^^

Iceman-19
03-31-2010, 11:56 AM
The GT is always available with the GT 500 wheels/brake package along with a GT500 handling pack, straight from the factory when you order it. Obviously it costs more, but if your going all out, whats a bit more?

Recently they dynoed a pre-production model and it made 395rwhp. Either its an overpowered pre-pro model, or the 412hp is VERY conservative.

Although the one they tested was preproduction, the engine should be exactly the same. Ford is well into Production models now. Job 1 started March 15th, and so there are already quite a few 2011s on the roads in Michigan.

The other thing I just thought of, is that the GT is available with a 3.31 but for Canada a 3.73 is optional.. and it's possible they factored in the wrong final drive ratio.

My customer's 2011 GT coupe is due April 28th. It'll be one of the first retail 2011 mustangs to arrive in the GVRD. There should be some stock units arriving around the same time. Externally, they look exactly the same as the 2010s, except for the 5.0 badge and the different wheels. The major difference is the engine and gearbox.

Last month there was $2000 off any 2011 Mustang order, now there is 3.99% purchase interest. Who knows what it'll be when they arrive early next month.

I'll give Ford some credit. Happy to see them finallu start to bring some of the euro models into North America, something they should have done a LONG time ago.

As far as innovations, Ford has always been good at putting new features into cars that are still gimicky, but people do appreciate: Adjustable pedals, SYNC, and the adjustable backlighting come to mind. Although, I think the sequential rear turn signal flashing looks bizarre.

Meanwhile, Chrysler engineers are wasting time putting in features like "front headlight shuts off when turn signal activated".

Meanwhile, Chrysler engineers are wasting time putting in features like "front headlight shuts off when turn signal activated".

They do that due to the DOT regulations.
The turn signals must be "x" distance from the headlamps or something like that.

Since they are too close together, the headlight shuts off when the turn signal is activiated so oncomming traffic can clearly see the turn signal is activated.
