Hi guys,
I am about to move to Tsawwassen from Vancouver, is it a good place to live, in terms of crime rate and such, and I heard the community is not too friendly to asians, is that true?

I am sure its a good place for vacation.. but I am more concerned if the population is unwelcoming to asian or not, especially when I have old parents..and I heard its one of the whitest community in BC

It's fine. It's nowhere near the whitest community in BC. You'd have to go deep into the interior in order to find that. ;)

You guys make Tsawwassen sound like a hick town. It's absolutely fine there. Surprised you've never been before moving there..

my friend commutes from tsawwassen daily to dt vancouver. well, he use to until he changed jobs.
its a perfectly fine community, huge housing lots! but i did notice its fairly religious, lots of church's. but its far from being some hick town. looks like a good place to live, retire, start a family.

it's like any other city/town it has good and bad parts. Just one of those little places with a lower crime rate. They have some wicked neighborhood pubs thats for sure.

There's racism anywhere you go. Sometimes, it's subtle and at times, it's down right shitty. Just don't move to Merrit or Rosedale, LOL. KKK hot spots (or at least they used to be).
Just talk, walk, and act like everybody else and you'll be fine. Just don't hold lion dances in your front lawn or fly some foreign flag and you'll be just fine. Once people know you're cool, nobody's gonna give a shit. Oh yeah, don't put up any pie plates.

yeah i drive pass there to pick up packages from TSB shipping @ Pt Roberts.
If you're used to seeing asians driving MBs and BMW in vancouver/richmond
think again if you're in Tsawwassen

What kind of bright bulb would move to a place BEFORE researching about it?
Heck even if "Tsawwassen has high crime rate" and "not too friendly to asian".. what are you going to do? Put up a sign and protest in your yard?
I vote for trolling.

Well first explain what you're looking for in a town/community.
Tsawwassen has:
-plenty of nice parks
-no bad/shady part of town
-most of the houses have large mature lots
-bunch of cheaper houses on the market right now that BC Hydro is selling underneath their newly upgraded overhead power lines (good or bad depending on the way you look at it)
-splashdown waterpark, paintball, f440 go-carts
-nice beaches and golf courses
-a good police department (an ipsos-reid survey concluded that 92% of delta's population expressed satisfaction with the delta police department) 92% is almost unheard of across canada.
-access to cheap gas across the border in Pt Roberts (no border lineups)
Tsawwassen does not have:
-many things for teenagers to do (bowling alley and movie theatre are gone)
-many pubs/bars, one local bar but its decent (there are more in ladner)
-things to do late-night
-homeless people
-a lot of crime (stated as a fact since my work involves local crime rates)
I grew up in Tsawwassen and have just recently relocated back to the area.
If you have specific questions just post em up.

well, its not my decision, its my parents, and I am a grown up now but still live with them at the moment. And I don't have problem with a white neighborhood, it is just I am afraid since its a very white community they may not welcome an old asian couple like my parents to move in.

Move to Richmond if you are worried about your parents feeling out of place.

Listen, if you're so obsessed with finding a place that isn't "friendly to Asians" it sounds like you have a serious complex. Odds are that you'll find a place that isn't "Asian friendly" no matter where you go.
Some guy cuts you off in traffic you'll think its racism. Someone budges in line at you at the supermarket you'll think its racism. If you buy a pair of shoes that has a broken shoe lace I can almost guarantee you'll cry racism.

wtf @ going to tsawwassen for a vacation?! that's like saying I'm going to vacation for a week in coquitlam.
I drive by tsawwassen all the time and it looks like a great place to live. Only thing that sucks about tsawwassen is the long commute if you don't work in the surrounding area.

Excuse me Mr. but I do not know of many white families living around Tsawwassen. It's mostly black folks. I find it racist that you assumed it was all white people... Tsawwassen has a rich black history for decades, the only bad thing about living there is the really high crime rate. There is a big change your home will be broken into by brothers and with not that many police in Tsawwassen you'll have to fight for you life. If you want to be welcomed make a free cookout for all the folks in the community, you may be accepted by this but with all the crime good luck.

Except the Ferries and Point Roberts!
A family who we bought our last house from moved to Tsawassen, because they really enjoys the scenery and life there, and the mothers parents lived there. What I found interesting was that the house never had a TV hooked up to it, so this family wasn't all high tech and everything. I'm not implying that Tsawassens a hick town or anything, but just think that it's more less "Modern" or a lot less "city like" down in Tsawassen.
Like everybody said, Racism exists everywhere... so it wouldn't matter too much where you move, it will always exist. Nowhere in the Lower Mainland that I know of have bad racism issues though, so your parents should be pretty safe.
On a side note: Doesn't places like White Rock have a really high Caucasian rate?

I am here to ask for information..if you have nothing valuable to contribute you can keep the crap to yourself. Different people have different worries and if you dont have them good for you, but that doesnt mean others cant ask.
^ It's not that far away. Just go hang out at Tim Hortons or Starbucks and see what happens. Fill up on gas across the border while you're there.

IMO, Creston hands down. You can literally throw a rock and hit the KKK capital of the US.
Was down there for a week and the first thing I saw when I rolled through the main drag was a lifted pickup with a gun rack out back and confederate flag waving off the antenna.

yeah, when i got mine the US guard asked me if i ever smoked weed... i said no, and she asked me literally four more times if i ever smoked weed...lol
and the Canadian guard that interviewed me could care less about anything.. lol he just asked me what i did for a living and then stamped my papers..
I have smoked weed before but lied because i didn't know what would happen if i didn't? I got the nexus pass though...
For $50 for 5 years it's well worth it.. and you can use it at all land and sea borders now.. you don't need a passport anymore.. (They just changed this within the last month)

Keep in mind that if you're traveling with others, only Nexus pass holders can go through your Nexus lineup. The others will need to lineup with the regular Canadian citizens.

what a fucking idiot!
it takes me, on average, 30 mins to drive from my apt downtown to my mums house in ttown - i lived there for 7 or 8 years - there's plenty of asian ppl there - mostly white, yes, but enough asian ppl to suffice retards like the OP
its a quiet town, but its not like its in the middle of nowhere, its a 15 min drive to richmond, 30-45 to downtwon (depending on the time of day), has ok transit to downtwon (bus & canada line)
what i would question is what teh fuck i, as a grown man, would be doing MOVING to tsawwassen with my parents? granted i lived tehre until recently (throughout uni & my designation) - but i'd never move there now WITH my parents
all in all, ttown is a nice place -not exciting, but nice
