i thought 911 just calls u back to make sure everythings ok... mom did that a once years ago @home (911 was on the speed dial -_-) and they just spoke with us over the phone

they wanted to speak with everyone though, no1 came over

SURREY (NEWS1130) - The number of accidental calls to 911 in Surrey is starting to cost a lot of money.

Telus says people meaning to call India, which has a country code of 91, are forgetting to dial the international calling code 011 first.

Even if you hang up after realizing your mistake, an RCMP officer is still dispatched to where you're phoning from to check everything out and make sure everything is okay.

The company's Shawn Hall says it's such a big problem, they're now looking at ways to cut down the misdialing.

"Maybe a sticker or magnet that people can put on their phones or putting information in people's phone bills as a reminder. We're going to make sure we get the awareness out there.

He says Surrey seems to be the only city experiencing this problem.
