doesnt matter how fast you need a helmut
jlenko
04-09-2010, 09:45 AM
You only NEED a helmet if you have a convertible, or a motorbike, regardless of how fast (or slow) you are. If you have a hardtop, you're ok without a helmet til you hit 13.99 or faster.
If it's his first time out to Mission... I don't expect he'll get that quick on his first day. It takes some people a few tries just to figure out the christmas tree!

Heard from a friend who lives out there that it's snowing in Mission. If the infield is still soaked I doubt many people will show. It'll be all the regular cars and none of the awesome trailered ones.

Rofl, snowing it is not.. weathernetwork.com bud.
And EVO 8 guy will probably do low 14's on his first few runs, AWD, just foor it to 6k rpm and pop the clutch and let the AWD do the work haha.
BTW how is burnout comp at 4 if gates dont open til 4 30?

You will get a warning first, then the 2nd time you'll get booted. Trust me you wont hit less then that unless your really pro with stick.

It's still getting pretty cold at night right now in the Valley, so expect some traction issues once the sun peaks the trees around the track.

can? so you didnt actually do it your just assuming? Also, some tracks vary and I think that it used to be 12.99 a couple years back.

13.99 is when you need a helmet. My brother hit that last year around the end of the season and was asked to wear one from then on. Also, my friend's fb runs around 12.6 and he's been told he needs a helmet as well. So there you go.
And bloodmack it snowed in Coquitlam for a little while this morning. weatheroffice.org bud, weathernetwork.ca is east coast and rarely ever correct for Vancouver's weather.

Sweet, not gonna go today, but i'd really wanna do that in the summer.
Is it just drag racing that they have, or do they have another event for an actual track too?
Raid3n
04-09-2010, 04:55 PM
they have a road course as well, but never on the same day.
and usually the road coarse events are run by groups like the porsche club and takeda. don't think you can just roll up an pay a fee to go for a few laps...

So true
First time i went to mission i borrowed a helmet from a buddy, but didn't intend to use it beacuse i knew i would be slow.
While passing tech, the guy kept asking...."so, you are going to use the helmet right?" He gave me a total stink eye when I said no and said I would be above 14.
Only got 3 runs in, 1st and 3rd runs went up in wheelspin, 2nd run was the only decent one.
Best of the night was a 14.11 :haha:

I did it back in like 2006, and then in 2007....have time slip and ting. but they didn't care about the helmet anyway.
pretty damn sure it's 12.99 man a whole lot of cars off the showroom will beat 13.99 these days. My Galant will smoke a 13.99 as long as I launch it proper...

* Drivers of cars running 13.99 or quicker are required to wear an NHRA approved Snell 2000 or newer helmet (Note: As of January 1, 2007 the Snell 95 helmet will no longer be legal to use at NHRA / MRP race events). Passengers are allowed in vehicles running 14.00 seconds and slower provided they wear their seatbelt and a Snell approved helmet. All drivers of convertibles regardless of ET must wear a Snell approved helmet.
you'd be pretty wrong then. Taken right off the website.

I didn't even get to go. I was just about to the front of the line and then the car crashed and I never got to go.

ya buddies festiva that runs low 12's blue the diff right out of the tranny when he shifted into second. at least he was smart and got off to the side right away. they should shut it down the pass before that cause some hero in a skyline decided to lift a head or somthing just past the 60' and continue down the track the entire way smoking out the track and dropping coolant

you guys that run slicks, if you want better times, run with the Outlaw Class, they always prep the track with gold dust and VHT just before that class, so you are bound to get better traction than running in the middle of 1000 Civics on street tires that tear all that prep up

It was a great time. Our rb31 skyline did 13.5 @ 105mph missing third gear and running .7 bar boost. I ran 15.02 @ 91 mph in the parts hauler dakota with an embarrassing rt of .9 and the first 100 or so feet just wheel spin and hop. (need some shocks and some drag radials) and the bike posted a 11.2 @124 mph.
We'll be going again in a couple of weeks once we put some real tires on the parts hauler and boost up the skyline.

My buddy was there with his Audi last week. Barely anyone was there so he got in like 6 runs before they shut down at 8...
It was the first time running the car. First thing he did when he got home was order new motor mounts, transmission mount and diff mount. Not even running full boost he couldnt get the car into 3rd without letting off the gas. haha

It totally felt weird the whole day until I was trying to go home and a piece of the intake plumbing decided to tell me wassup and came apart. The engine was basically leaking boost the whole time...
If it weren't for that I'm pretty sure I could have done at least a 0.5s faster with its hp rating at RG... but oh well it was not to be.
Oh for people who might be interested in going the entry price is $35.....very expensive indeed.

I didn't get to see a lot of the races, because I was helping a friend in the pits. His daughter races jr dragster, and was doing a test & tune that day before the street leagls.
Looked like there were some decent cars that came out. I guess the game didn't scare that many people away. I just wish I had seen more of it (not the game, the races! :lol )

If it was $22 it was a lot more incentive.
$35 every friday for the hardcore fans it's a lot more in the course of the year. It's more than 50% up.
But of course that's if you don't break the car first doing this every week lol.
