Hey guys, I have a photo research project on any photographer of my choice. The problem is that I just don't know who to choose from. I like photographers who have shot pictures that contain messages or ones that capture significant events thus illustrating a movement of some sort.

Can anybody recommend me a good photographer?

Here is a website for an organization who mission "is to further environmental and cultural conservation through ethical photography". They have a bunch of photographers but most notably is Art Wolfe (TV show: Travels to the Edge). They have concerns about "poaching to global warming, from habitat loss to cultural erosion, from sustainability to biological corridors, the work of conservation photographers covers the entire range of threats to biodiversity and is indeed a critical component in the conservation toolbox."

I hope that might help you out in regards to photographers that shoot pictures that contain messages.

The masters of the genre:
- Henri Cartier Bresson - The Maestro.
- Steve McCurry - photographed National Geographic's 'Afghan Girl'
- Elliot Erwitt - street photographer
- Robert Capa - famous WWII photographer
- Nick Ut - took that photo of Kim Phuc, the little girl running from the napalm attack in Vietnam
- Richard Avedon
- Dorothea Lange - especially her series on migrant workers during the depression, see the 'Migrant Mother'
- Sebastião Salgado

Google Ansel Adams. Maybe you'll find interest in him.
