to some people, it's a superstitious thing.
if the pinky is not longer than the 3rd joint of the ring finger, it's consider bad luck, thus they grow out their finger nails to "compensate" the length.

Coke nail it's called. Saves the trouble of cutting rails. Dunk nail in bag, sniff from nail, grate teeth. The longer the nail is, the more hardcore you are.

It would probably help if they got rid of the worst offending vehicles - all those trucks dumping black smoke into the air, and switch all the busses to electric or batteries. And enforce anti-idle laws (which they will be doing for taxis)

Remember, we're talking about "air quality" here, not "pollution". We can control the air quality around us.

But as long as China is taking dumps over their little SAR, realistically there's nothing we can do to be able to see more than a mile on clear days.
