VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu says his officers are 'disgusted' they had to arrest one of their own today.
Thirty-one-year-old Peter Hodson is a less than five year veteran of the Vancouver Police and is accused of selling pot while on duty and off duty. He also faces three other charges, including two counts of Breach of Trust and break and enter with the intent to commit extortion.
Chu says Hodson has been fired. He adds in all the years he's been a police officer, he can't remember any charges as serious as this being laid against a Vancouver Officer.
I'm personally a huge supporter and nut hugger of VPD but this is just sloppy behaviour and code of conduct by one of its members

At least he actually got fired and not the usual suspended with pay that alot of officers seem to get when they're caught doing something wrong.

I BET YOU THIS IS JUST A SET UP TO SEND HODSON INTO UNDERCOVER WORK!
cause when embarrassing thing like this happened to the VDP, they would try to cover it and not let it leaked into the public.

they've known about him for some time now
and were actively trying to get the evidence to bring him down, recent events had me assume it wouldnt be long
glad to see they did
taking money from dealers or their pot, isnt uncommon but the way he did it and what he did had even his fellow officers go WTF? can't get into the details but this guy had no right to be called a police officer
Did they catch him on 4/20?

this isn't the only officer who takes the dope and the money for his own personal gain I'm sure there's others other than the one I've heard about in the vpd.

That poor family. The mother had to drop her claim because she can't afford to proceed. Watching on the news right now.

You are far over-simplifying a very complex decision made by Ian's mother. Her statement, which includes her full explanation as to why she is dropping the civil suit, can be found here:

There are other aspects that you failed to mention which led to her decision. 1 of which is this:
Nothing we can do will give Ian’s life back to him, so the only thing we truly want is not within our reach.
Proceeding with the civil court case would give us, and Ian, our day in court. The inquest was an exercise in frustration for the family and court would hear more evidence. Individuals who were testifying would be required to answer questions regarding the investigation and be able to support their statements under oath. The civil case was meant to expose the flaws in the current system and I think that has been done.
By now, with all that has taken place over the past four years, we feel that people are aware of our stand on the flaws in the system when police investigate police. There is now a movement towards completely independent investigation of police in cases where there is loss of life or serious harm has been done.
I would be careful what you "report" on these forums, because the stupid kids and/or ignorant adults will use it to further their equally stupid and/or ignorant views.
The English title is a word play combining the law enforcement term 'internal affairs' with the adjective Infernal.

Well are you going to find someway to justify shooting and killing an unarmed man?
My view is that a cop executed someone via a gunshot to the back of the head and has faced no charges or arrest - care to state how this is ignorant or stupid?
No. I'm not going to justify someone else's actions.
Your views are your own, as are mine. No where did I state your views are stupid or ignorant.
What I will say is, no one on this forum can feel even an ounce of the emotional turmoil this has caused more than Ian's family. If Ian's own mother can look forward, maybe we should follow suit, and finally let it rest. Ian's mother wanted to "expose the flaws in the current system", and she achieved that. What more can we say?

Ians mothers concern is that of her own son and how things were handled in that regard her concerns are also clouded by emotions; we shouldnt expect her to take up a cause and see it through to the end to satisfy everyones concerns, only hers
our concern is our police force as a whole... not just this one incident but all the questionable incidents and how everything will be handled (as a whole) in the future... our causes were parallel at a point but they are distinct, hers may have ended but why should ours when hers is just but one facet?

Unfortunately, I'm sure he's not the only cop out there in the lower mainland confiscating drugs for personal use or sale.
