i went to a meeting to support my friend, he actually didnt tell us what it was and basically lied to us taht it was something totally different to get us to go.
listened to some bs speech, then the presenter arranged 1 on 1 meetings with most of the guest, and i wasnt going to do it but hes got my number from one of my sellout friends. so i met him to talk about it, and jsut went with his bs and rejected. then he offered a free all expenses paid trip to portland for this big gathering of IMPORTANT people! giving some motivational speech and shit.
sure you will be making extra income, which i have noticed also, but for you to be making the 6+ digits they promise you any time soon, you have got to be kidding yourself. sure, you and all the other suckers will all be making 6+ in no time.

It's an all or nothing job. Comparable to selling RESPs or Life Insurance.
Actually no. People will always want to buy RESPs and Life Insurance. And you need a fucking license to sell. Any bozo can sell me something I can get from my fucking toilet if I had to. My dog does that and he gets along fine, I'm sure I don't need to break a bill just to get something I can turn on the tap for.
If you think this is just going to be some easy dough then you've obviously been misinformed. The amount of time and effort required per week to be actually successful with this type of thing compares to getting a full time job in the retail sector. And this does not include weekly/monthly seminars which are "in your best interest" to attend. Of course, whether or not you'll become successful after the input of time and effort is a whole other story.

^ exactly.
the way they get you is they say you only need to spend a couple hrs a week doing this job, which is total bull. you need to attend a meeting almost every week. its "in your best interest" to read the books on how to be successful at it, WHICH they will begin by lending them to you free of charge, but since you need to read volumes and volumes and there are even CDs with info, they eventually cut you off and tell you to buy them to learn from. Which coincidentally the recruiter also sells. This is how they make money, by charging people for these self help books.

on another note.. what are you going down for?
is it the company that sells that perfect water/ vitamins / excess energy drink?
if so, there's nothing wrong with that company.
My uncle and aunt sell that garbage. it's just a pyramid business. ie. if you sell something the person above you, called the upline gets money.. so what you want to have is a down line, people you refer.
they do seem to sell a number of products to a number of friends/colleagues though and its just a side business thing for them...
imo, most of it is overpriced garbage... Perfect Water, lol are you kidding me...I've tried it btw... felt like superman...not
and for some reason, they actually believe it's the greatest water in the world and they think it helps you actually jump higher... I don't know how they got them to think this way which is effed because they're not dumb people..
ps.. if it is the same thing.. why are you going all the way down to washington for? they have local meetings/recruiting sessions here..

Yeah I understand I wouldn't be making 6 figures in no time, but I sure wouldn't mind having a little extra spending money in my pocket at the end of every month.
I thought it was ridiculous too, and researching it sure didn't help. All it came up with is "This is a horrible business venture... blah blah blah" But to support him I guess I'll take the time out, and if he's able to make it work personally, I wouldn't mind checking it out.

It's called clever marketing. They make this company out to be a very exclusive "invite only" membership, thereby increasing the value of their products. When in fact, anybody can join and anybody can become one of their sales representatives--why not? Sales reps are paid by their productivity, and most of these companies charge membership fees to weed out those who are incapable of selling their products.
Yeah I understand I wouldn't be making 6 figures in no time, but I sure wouldn't mind having a little extra spending money in my pocket at the end of every month.

Don't expect to be "helping" a colleague out in this type of a business. And don't expect anybody to help you out either. In this field, you have to earn everything for yourself. You'll only be getting paid if your sales rep ID ends up on the clients' agreement form.
Oh, and he gets a bonus for recruiting--and a bonus for your productivity if he recruited you directly.

This is like one of those refer 10 friends and get a free $10 gift card. Your friend isn't here to help you earn money, he's here to get you into the system and help him get money through referals. Although the recruiter will probably claim you as his own, which will help him with his bonus. This type of business is a FFA, you fight for customers in order to make a profit. You consistantly need around 5 RETURNING customers every month inorder to make ANY money. That's 5 dumbasses buying over priced water and other over priced items.
Ex. Perfect water is like $54 for a 24 case. $2.25/bottle. For water..

A lot of the offices are run by morons that just push the shit on you...this guy was different. Quite personable, and actually gave an interesting talk. This is what it is, this is what we do...if you want in, come back on Saturday etc.
But my main issue has and always will be pimping shit to friends and family. I don't want to talk about RRSP's with my friends. So frustrating. Yeah, there are people that are making money with it. Yeah I got back at around 5 in the morning last night.
Anywho... here's my two cents.
Fail away if you must.
The business does seem legit. For sure it isn't one of those companies grabbing your registration fee then running away. If you have the work to put in, there will be money given back.
I went to the event a bit unsure, but any questions I basically have asked somebody to clarify...and imo it all adds up.
LOTS of people who are just first years in this business are already making around $4000-6000 a month, easily. Which really made me think, if they could do it, why can't I?
It's a Pyramid Scheme you say?
So is our government.
The Company makes money off other people.
What company that you know doesn't?
The only negative comment would be that they mentioned that a only 2% of people will be making the millions, but as mentioned above, as long as people are willing to put in the work, there will be residual income coming in.
The concept is that theres a whole line of products that you can buy, and it saves people money. I looked at the prices... although it doesn't seem like it makes you money, I don't see the downside of the fact that whatever you buy from your own website if you are in the business, you will get a certain amount of money back.
Say you buy something from Superstore, all you get back is the product that you bought. Now let's say you bought something from your own store, you get back the product, and also the amount difference in the middle.
Even if this is a "scam", I'm sure the majority of human beings out there would do it if it meant them getting rich.
There's my rant, sorry to disappoint you guys but I'm not against Amway nor for. I have not made my decision whether or not to join.
Anybody feel like expanding on any of the topics? Or add on? Or argue anything?

You are just using your money to buy bottled tap water at a premium (regardless of the little discount (or commission) you get), which costs them almost nothing to produce and little to market. Sounds like a brilliant idea to me.

You don't "Have to" sell stuff to yourself. But think of it this way.
Say you owned a Chevron. Would you still fill up at a Petro Canada, Husky, Shell or wherever you fill up?
It's completely logical.
Nope there's 450+ exclusive products including edibles, car supplies, plus affiiliate partners like Barnes and Noble, Best Buy and etc. No knives.

Anyone curious what company he is talking about? It's called Amway. Google it and you will find tons of evidence as to why it is not a good idea to join. BUT you will also find MANY MANY sites used as for propaganda which are all fake and have biased views on Amway.
Here is an example of the MILLIONS of sites, EACH person in this business "own". Here you can find over priced goods for all your needs.
http://like.mychoices.biz/pws/home.aspx
Every month you pay some money, i think it was around $100 or so ish cant remember, but that money goes to run the site through a company (not Amway but i forgot the company name). You basically try to get customers to view your website and purchase products from it. You earn a percentage of sales from your website, so the more customers you have, the more money you will make. The only hard part to this is attracting those customers, like I already said there are SO many of these websites all trying to do the same thing all selling relatively the same products. On top of all that, they EXPECT you to attend a weekly meeting and also the large meetings in the states. They also ADVISE you to read all their self help bs books and CDs, which cost an arm and a leg, and you should be reading a new one every week or so.
Anyways.

WWDB is the company you're referring to.
And it adds up to about $80 per month after tax.
CDS and Books costs roughly $3 to 6 a week.
Meetings are "optional", but yes as you mentioned they "advise" you to attend.

Get the fuck out of this shit!
Its nothing but a huge scam, you'll only end up wasting your money and getting none of it back. All the 'meetings' are basically the same but they will charge you $10 every time anyways. They say they make $100,000+ after a couple years from this 'business' but most of those are coming from their 'talks' aka meetings, they barely make shit from actual product sales. Those talks are basically to brainwash you to make you think you can make $$ quick by joining up with them. Its like an evil cult with sleazy motherfucking salesmen. You basically have to devote 24 hours a day into this 'business' and youre not even guaranteed profits after all the work and effort you put in. Dont get too deep into this shit man, get out now while you can, seriously.

My friend is getting into a similar business like this, it's called Acai Berry, I don't know if any of you guys have heard about it before but it's almost the same thing I guess as trying to sell Perfect Water or whatever product it is. He told me about it and it seems like the exact same shit everyone else said, same stories about making 6 figures and devoting only a few hours a week and whatnot. I call bullshit.
The only people you'll be selling to is your friends and family. You'll also be fucking up all your friendships by trying to get them to join you.
Your friends and family will hate you for trying to sell them stupid shit at stupid prices. You'll also be paying stupid prices for stupid shit because you have to. You buy the bottled water for $2/bottle and you make $.50 from it. Really the water costs you $1.50. Why not just buy it from Costco for $.50/bottle? This applies to all the stupid shit they sell.
btw the only way you REALLY make money is by recruiting people, not selling the shit.

I think it's worth checking out. My buddy's been in it for about 6 months now, and I've noticed a great increase of him becoming a lot more mature, and does seem to be doing better financially.
Unless you have access to his financial statements, he could be living out of his ass. From my experience, think twice before you make a decision, even if he is your close friend. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Why do you think he is acting more mature? Think about it. Think about who he is associating himself with now. Why is he asking you? Because you're a friend, and using that friend card he has a higher chance of getting you to agree than a random person on the street. Hence making him his referral bonus.
I got tricked into one of these multi-level marketing schemes before. Yeah! Lets go into an empty apartment, sit on chairs in a circle with a bunch of strangers who have all been successful with this awesome way to make money. What did you make this month Bob? Oh wow! How about you Jane? See how easy it is? Really, all you need is to get a baseline going, your family members/friends are a great place to start! Check out this pay stub I have! Its a shitty photocopy but it's the real thing for sure! What was your credit card number again? 5741 57SU CKMY FUCK INGB ALLS.

hchang, I urge you to read my post again. Nothing good can come from joining Perfect Water or any pyramid scheme. When you future employer/prospective employer finds out, friends and family find out you will look like a complete gullible idiot.
It sounds like you where brain washed, obviously the presentation sounded good, they're trained at selling bs.
edit** oh and your friends that are trying to sell you on this idea, they're no longer your friends, they just see you as a mark/target now. Only way they're making money is by recruiting more idiots into this scheme.
Joining shit like Perfect Water, World Financial Group, etc.. can only do more harm than good. Slim chance you might make a couple extra dollars but you are going to look like a complete idiot and joke to all your friends, family members or anyone with common sense.
Anyone who joins crap like this shows me that they are gullible, desperate, retarded and has either no skillset or are too lazy to obtain a real career/job. I review a lot of resumes at work and any resume I see with crap like this on it, I crumple up and toss.

I worked at NCO in Surrey which had a huge open workspace. One of the people who was suckered into one of these scams would go from department to department on his break to try to sell this similar shit. He would approach people he didn't know who were sitting trying to do their job or on lunch and try to get them to buy from him. I had the unfortunate task of banning him from our department (I knew what his reaction would be like) and when he blew his stack he had the nerve to go to the site manager and say I was costing him money.
I pity what his social circle must have had to go through.
Oh, and if you're going to get pitched anything: get pitched timeshares. The free seminar incentives are much better.

I got suckered once by this dude I met in college. I was like 20 years old probably. Ended up paying $80 for the license and like $25 for a pack of XS energy drink. Lol I think I just ended up drinking them myself.
The final straw was this meeting I attended in a condo just across metrotown. People were telling us how you can make so much money off selling anything you can purchase from their catalogue. When one hick looking dude started talking about selling lobsters of all things I just almost broke out into laughter.
Now that I think back I think only people that fall for these things are young kids straight outta highschool. Last year I had our accountant try and sell my wife and her mom the acai berry speech and I wanted to jump over the table and punch her in the mouth. Instead I texted my girl who was sitting next to me SCAM DONT LISTEN
