| Shops that deal with Clifford alarms...
I'm looking for a good, trustworthy shop that deals with Clifford alarms. Preferably one that knows the older models, and won't fuck anything up!
The car I bought came with a Clifford alarm, and I need to reprogram one of the remote/fob to the car, or even possibly buy a new alarm remote/fob. I replaced the battery in one of them with what I THINK is the proper battery type (you think Clifford would be smart and list the type in the manual..NOPE! Thanks to orgasm_donor for helpin out) Remote still doesn't arm/disarm the car; however, the led indicator IS now working on the remote/fob.
I have the manual that came with the alarm, and will most likely try and figure this out myself...
BUT, with only one working remote, I'm nervous about fucking something up, and not being able to start the car, etc. I need a back up plan! lol
I know Clifford isn't the greatest anymore, and not a lot of shops carry them, but there has to be at least a couple decent shops out there still dealing with them, or have in the past...
Cheers, and thanks for any help |

I have a complete diagram and instruction manual for that alarm. I used to install them back in the day. I don't think that I have any remotes left from that era though. I'll try to remember to check tomorrow.

That's a great alarm, back when Clifford was the best.
Have you changed your valet code? Or is still set to the factory number? That will be the first step in programming..
I think you may need an installer manual in order to program any features, and remotes to the alarm. I don't remember which setting it nor do I have anything I can look up.
I'm sure if you go see Soundsgood, they'll be able to get it working again.

Yeah, thankfully I have the instruction booklet that came with the alarm. It does tell you how to add a new remote to the car, so I might give it a try... but I also don't really want to mess with any alarm stuff that might frig the car up. Since you guys know this alarm, is it worth trying on my own, or should I just not mess with it?
As for the valet code, I haven't changed anything. Although the previous owner WAS smart, and wrote it down inside the instruction booklet (bless his soul!).
This alarm is pretty cool, and the options you can add to it are pretty cool. I'm just glad it isn't a peice of shit, but knowing it's an old school Clifford, I know it's decent.
It's too bad the shop who did the original install is no longer around. But at least it wasn't a big box store.

I've installed hundreds of those many moons ago I believe I remeber how to program the remotes for it. Keep in mind there were a few different but same looking remotes that won't work for your alarm. The big arm/disarm button on it is the giveaway. IIRC the concept 20/40/60 ones had a concaved button

Yeah, the other remote I have came with the car, so I'll have to assume it's for this alarm (it does have the concaved, big arm/disarm button that contours with the remote). One is the fancey 'carbon fiber' style remote, and the other is the ugly grey one of the same style, lol.
I'm sure if I showed you the instruction booklet, it would all come crashing back to you on how to do it |

And I forgot to ask all you guys, since I've got your attention now...
Will replacing the battery in the remotes for this alarm, does the remote have to be re-programmed each time you replace it?
Only reason I ask, is because I want to be sure I have the right battery for this remote. I replaced it with the 23A battery. Its the right length, and does fit... but the remote with the 23A battery feels a bit heavier than my other remote. Could be just be me being paranoid. The red led indicator IS working on the remote with the new 23A battery...

No when changing the battery you won't need to reprogram the remote.

Ah crap. Wonder why my remote isn't working then? Maybe the battery IS wrong? Even though the indicator led is lighting up?

Maybe a bad question at this point, but is the red led lit up constantly in the dash?

Nope, at least I'm fairly certain. When I arm it, it blinks as per usual.
Unless you mean when the alarm is disarmed?
What would that mean?

If the LED is constantly lit then it means that it's in valet mode. Some systems will act as keyless entry only at this point.
