| ICBC Help
Hello Guys,
My car got broken into last night and they took my indash headunit. I have the receipt for it for over $900 from future shop but my name is not on the receipt. My sister bought the unit for me and her name is on the receipt. Will ICBC give me a hard time about this? Will they give me $900 credit for me to buy and install another indash unit?
please help

Why don't you talk to the adjuster and find out?

they won't care about the name on the receipt.
but you might not get the full $900, depending on the age of the HU and how much depreciation they take off.

And you can always ask your sister to write a bill of sale to you and backdate it.

Months later, our car was broken into, and the thieves broke the front of the deck trying to pull it out (it still worked, but the LCD was trashed). In the course of checking the damage, the adjuster noted the make and model of the deck.
A week later, the thieves came back and succeeded in removing the busted-ass deck (they had to completely destroy the console to get it out). Despite my not having the receipt, since the adjuster had all the details on the deck recorded, he gave me the retail value of the deck... some $350.

That's all that matters. Secondly, it was still new enough that depreciation was esentially zero. And so he probaby looked it up at a local retailer, found the retail value, and there you go.
Sometimes thinks work out better for some people than others.
