So the crown on my watch broke and fell off somewhere on the streets. Anyone know a shop somewhere in the lower mainland that can repair and replace the crown? Thanks

Looking for the same thing, with exactly the same problem. Going to a jewelery shop was no help... think we might need someone more specialized for this.

There's an actual watch repair guy in Rodeo Jewelers at Oakridge Centre. I found him helpful.

Water got inside my 16-year old Tag (probably because I didn't tighten the crown) and he helped me dry it out for free. Unfortunately it doesn't work reliably anymore because there's rust inside. He told me full repairs would cost $500+ and suggested that I look for a new watch.

I think he speaks Vietnamese though, so his English will be very difficult to understand.

YES. Time and Gold used to be good apparently, then it was bought by Chinese people from HKG with ZERO customer service. They fixed my watch once, only to have it die again several months later. I had to haggle with them to get it fixed again.

i take my Omega Speedmaster to a place in Richmond Public Market, it's upstairs in a corner by the escalators, the place might seem shady and old, but the guy there has been fixing vintage watches and clocks in Hong Kong for over 40 years, a full service tune up on my Speedmaster only cost about $200 (Omega want $500 for the same service, and needs to ship to Toronto), and i saw him repairing lots of high end Rolex's (Submariners, Explorers, Daytonas, etc), including a vintage 1970's Submariner, which is one of my dream watches...

Sorry for the thread jack, but does anybody know a good trustworthy person who can change the length of the brace on a Rolex?

I need about two taken off, I've already tried various stores around Richmond, and all of the ones in Richmond Center, but none of them could unscrew it because there's small particles that have collected in the past year or two. The shop will need to have a machine to take it off.

The only place that I've been quoted was for $20, but it doesn't really seem like a nice shop for me to leave my watch to.

Anybody know of any good ones?

a rolex authorized dealer should have the tool to do it for you. e.g. monte cristo, palladio, brinkhaus

about a week? i had other pieces to wear, so i told him to take his time on the service, but im sure he can do it quicker

now i know for sure time & gold are douchebags with poor customer service. they wanted 4 weeks to do the same thing. when i asked for my watch back and said that i was gonna take it somewhere else, the guy said "have it back, it's fake anyways". glad to know there's a guy that's cheaper and works faster.

most of the watch repair shops in places like the bay / sears (they're independent of the chain store) they're actually really knowledgeable and skilled you could easily ask them for their advice

yea, he is pretty reliable, i bring all of my automatics to him for servicing, if parts needs to be replaced, it might take longer as he needs to order the parts in for you, but i dont see that taking 4 weeks

shoudl always be free. i've never heard anyone taking it back to monte or brinkus having to charge.

Monte Cristo said it's complimentary from them to change the length, Brinkhaus only does it for their own customers.
