Crazy. Just another reason to do deals in public locations. Poor guy. His son was stupid though, trying to 'fight off' the robbers.. ended up getting his dad killed..

that's why I stop buying/selling stuff on the Internet. you never know what will happen.

Even if you meet in a public it could be bad. Remember a few years back some guy on RS was selling a necklace, meet the buyer in Metro and the buyer took off with the necklace and ran. Although the thief was caught but he didn't have the necklace so the security let him go. Later that day the thief even message the RS seller basically saying he's got the necklace now.

The best thing to do is meet in a public place, get your friends to be with you(make sure they look tough too).

Police have arrested Joshua Nathan Reese, 20, Kiyoshi Alan Higashi, 22, and Amanda Knight, 21. All three have been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and assault. All three have pleaded not guilty to the charges

So young and a big WTF.

So young and a big WTF.

Perhaps they were advised to not plead guilty to first degree murder so that they can instead be indicted of second degree with lesser penalty.

this is why i don't deal through craigslist

revscene has feedback and an IP trace by the mods can easily be done if the need ever arises
heard way too many stories like this about craigslist to keep me far, far away

the guy probably should've known better then to give somebody who he's never met or seen before, over the internet, his home address
still, RIP

So young and a big WTF.

they've pled not guilty, they aren't found not guilty
i had the same reaction too when i first read it

I know it's a one in a million chance that something like this can happen, but never invite strangers to your house especially with your family there aswell..

I remember years ago, like 20 years ago, my mom recieved a knock on the door from someone who wanted to use our phone. My mom said sure and when the lady left we found out she stole a pack of cigs lol. Just cant trust strangers ever.

(May 7) -- It seemed like a good idea -- make some extra cash by selling a diamond ring on Craigslist.

NO IT DOESN'T!!!!!

unless you are selling furniture or a TV...it is never a good idea to give craiglist buyer your address!

I've bought and sold hundreds of items on Craigslist.. and nothing has ever been sketchy, except this one guy who tried to sell me this nasty, used non-clean GPS that was clearly the wrong model. It's pretty safe if you have some common sense.

I agree
If you're smart. Craigslist is a great source to use.

Just got to do stuff in public, day time, high traffic areas, maybe a buddy with you, and use e-mail at 1st so you don't get crazy calling you.

I usually meet people in a busy public place however like was posted if it is big furniture you don't have a lot of choice.

It really makes you think if it is worth it to invite a stranger into your home just to sell a couch.

I sold a 27" TV recently and said I would meet them out front. I am in a condo so at least they didn't know which unit I was in and had no access to my unit.

Wow...never invite anyone to your fucking HOUSE to buy something. The only people on RS that have been to my place to pick something up are people I've dealt with before and can trust.

Meet at a mall...at the food court. Heck, meet anywhere public.

It's like all the people that go "Oh you want me to meet in that dark alley behind that noisy building where people won't hear me scream for help? Sure, sounds good!"

yeah CL is a good place because not alot of ppl know rs...just meet in public library's, foodcourts, or busy streets who cares if your selling expensive items and you don't want others to see the transaction...less of chance of getting taxed lool

my tips for using CL, always meet at gas stations.

Gas stations are everywhere, best place to set up a meet. They have cameras, staffs, customers and the place is well-lit even at night...its pretty hard to go wrong
