So I've been wanting to learn on logotype, identity stuff. Can someone school me on where to start? Which program would be the best for this?

Photoshop

I don't think there aren't really "tutorials" to make logos. Isn't it just text/picture based on what you want to design. You can see other logos at http://thedesigninspiration.com/

I've been reading blogs and looked through graphic-exchange for inspiration. Pretty much just play around with photoshop and developed your own technique.

Pretty much, it's like asking how you draw or paint a picture.

You'd better learn Illustrator.

Illustrator? What's the differences between Illustrator and Photoshop?

Illustrator is vector based while photoshop is used for touching up photos.

Vector + Logo = no resolution problems when you need to make it bigger or smaller. (not pixelated)

I also find illustrator much much easier to use when it comes to having text in your logo, a lot more control.

+1 on Illustrator.

I would type up a whole essay on what the differences are between vector and bitmaps (i.e. JPG's that come out of your camera), but Google does that job better:

Thanks I'll try Illustrator when I'm on my desktop.
