So my family and I recently got the Shaw HD box installed yesterday, but all of a sudden, channels would just turn off in a few seconds. The guide would still work, but channels turn off...
Every channel we've switched to always ends up going black...We called Shaw, but they say they won't come in until next week.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks

try not sitting on the remote. If thats not the problem then try unplugging the power plug to the box, also make sure all your connections are tight.

Could the be tunner issue. Try recording a few shows and playing it. If it is all good then one of the tuner isn't working and u can simply press the switch button on the remote to change tuner.
If u get a reburished unit this happens a lot. U should call in and hassle them for a DCT 3416 lol.

^ What's the difference between what I have now and the DCT 3416?
I'm not really in the know when it comes to TV components.
All I want is to watch shows in HD, but those bastards won't come until next week lol..

^^ the regular HD box is pretty old (at least 3years ago DCT 6200) so if u get one of those most likely is out of warrantly.
The DCT 3416 is a newer model so there is less of them being rebrished unit so they operate better. Also the DCT 3416 IS A pvr (Personal video recorder). Try to get them if you can.
Avoid PACE series if you can/ The build is shitty and they don't last as long. Not to mention the new PACE 758D does not have an internal HD for PVR functions. So you have to get a PVR expander to get the PVR function to work.

^ The one we got was black and supposedly has the PVR...
They made the mistake of giving that to us, and will be coming in next week to give us the one we were supposed to order...the one we originally ordered was the $230~ one.
My family and I don't really need a PVR...we just want the damned thing to work haha.

I was just playing around with my TV and realized I only had one HDMI output...I need one more so I can have my PS3 connected as well. Can any of you recommend a good HDMI splitter/switch?
This stuff sure is a pain in the ass haha

Maybe I didn't explain myself thorougly...
When the technician came to my house to install the HD Box, he took off the HDMI wire connected to my PS3 so that he could place the HD Box's HDMI cable into the TV.
There are plenty of TV's out there with only one HDMI "socket" - I have a Sony Bravia...it is not the latest, however.
That is essentially why I need a HDMI switch, so that I could have both the HD Box and PS3 connected to a HDMI port.

Do you have a receiver with HDMI inputs? If not, get a receiver/HTIB (if you're desperate) instead. You shouldn't be playing PS3 or watching HD content with TV speakers anyways lol

does ur tv have component inputs? if so, id suggest u use component cables for the cable box to the tv and hdmi for ur ps3 to tv.
