Can I change my mind on pressing an assault charge?
read the title
say if I told the cops that I don't want to press charge on a guy, but now I want to change my mind. Is it possible to change my mind? If so, is there a time limit?
Talk to the investigating Member. You must have a phone number and file number. Explain to them why you want to back out. This is something you should not be discussing on the internet.
Depending on the situation the police may choose to continue with the charge anyway. You would be subpeonaed and would have to attend court regardless of your wishes.

This is the main reason why I chose not to press charge on the guy in the first place when the cops asked me.
But now I realize this situation is more serious. This guy was going around harming random ppl. If I don't press charge, he is just going to continue cause he would think he would never get charged.

Phone and leave a voicemail now. It should have been done the second you decided to not let yourself be a victim.
