Can anyone weld aluminum wheels?

I'm repairing my curbed aluminum wheels by sanding out the damage. This has worked for 99% of the damage, except one 0.25" chunk that is missing from the lips of a wheel.
I just need to fill that chunk, then I'll sand it out and the wheels can go to powdercoat. It would be 5 mins work for anyone that has the equipment. Can anyone help me out?

panther does shit work...true story....try nu-brite or greens....Greens does pickup and delivery too.
personally when it comes to rims...i wouldnt wanna DIY it for repairs...
If you curbed it hard enough to take a chunk out; how do you know the wheel is still true and straight?

Judging by your posts I doubt you even get your hands dirty.

Cause I have cracked one wheel and bent another before, and guess what, both wheels still drove perfectly fine with the damage. Tires are rubber, they adjust to small variances. This damage is not even close to that.

I thought of that, yet powdercoating may melt it. If I was painting I would certainly do this.

Please no suggestions of Panthers, NuBrite, ... if I wanted the wheels professional repaired I would have for a cost of ~$800 (already got a quote).
I have already stripped the paint and fixed 99% of the curbage for < $100 including dismounting the tires. Next is $55 to sand blast them, then < $200 to powdercoat and I'm done.
I was hoping someone would have a welder and could do it for a 6-pack, as really I only need a few small welds to fill the chunk. I don't really care much about these wheels, so if I have to leave the chunk, so be it. I'll put a wheel stripe over it :)

The BC Motor Vehicle Act has strict regulations regarding aluminum wheel repair.

Post up a pic of the wheel and show us how deep into the rim the crack is.. you should get a pro to tell you if it's superficial or if it needs professional repair.

i think u should just get new rims that are better looking this time

you can get them powdercoated with the crack still there, fill it then paint match over it

That's what I am thinking, cause I have to paint the centre caps anyways.

There's no crack. There is a chunk missing that is about 7mm wide and 5mm deep.

Ha that's a chip, not a chunk! lol. that's nothing. I repaired a curb rash bigger than that on one of my wheels with metal based bondo and it's still holding up fine after a year of driving.

:) LOL yet a chip I can sand out, a chunk to me is too big and needs to be filled.
Maybe I'll just get the wheels painted instead of powder coated, it'll be easier since I have to paint the centre caps anyways.

Ha, well; you're are very wrong there big guy....
judging from your post and the way your car looks...you're still stuck in the early 2000s when F&F was released...
stick to it ricer.

This leads me to think you're one of those guys that can't afford the repairs that affect the integrity of his car...good on you for driving on bent and cracked rims...you are a real winner. If you cant afford to repair..dont drive a benz....drive a honda.
edit: maybe its time for you to move out of your condo on the westside, and into an apartment on the eastside so you can afford the repairs on your car.

So? I like it more than today's mad camber hella-flushed style, and definitely more than the "clean" OEM mods that dominate the boring MB forums.
stick to it ricer.
From you, that's a compliment.

Nope. I enjoy getting my hands dirty and doing my own repairs. You wouldn't understand, so don't bother.
For the record I bent and cracked 2 rims while driving across Utah and had to have them professionally fixed. That's how I know what a bend and crack feels like to drive on.

I was going to respond rudely, yet I got banned last time I called out a member, so you've been reported instead. Your snobbery can stop, especially driving a car you'd be hard pressed to sell for even $20K.

I called out your hypocritical bad behaviour, looking down your nose at me while not being any better.
I didn't interrupt your thread to insult you - so yes I am one to talk. I don't get upset easy and hold my own - yet none of that matters when you get banned. I was banned for engaging other snobby members and don't wish to be banned again by the clique that is RS. So stop.

The diffrence between you and I is that...you do it constantly as if you enjoy trolling. I did it to defend myself.
goodluck driving your car. Snooty as I maybe...you got nothing on me. You're just entertainment.

I've explained the details of it before in a thread you mentioned it. You cna choose to remember why, or continue to choose to ignore it and try and vainly use it against me.
I stood up to ignorant moderators and got banned. I have no problem admitting that, and it is the only forum I am banned from for good reason.

Yes, I responded with a jab, you came back with a series of flat out insults. Jabs are fine, sarcasm is fun. Personal insults are not.

If only you meant the goodbye.
There's lots of differences between you and I, thank god for that. I would never want to come across as the snobby person you are.
Thanks for the compliment. I am entertainment, you're just sad.
You took a jab and came back with a sucker punch. Learn some self control.

31yo and do not consider it immature to point out your snobby hypocritical bad behaviour, and am mature enough to know the difference between a sarcastic jab and a series of personal insults.
:( Please own your words.
