For the people that havent read the book here is the run down.
They were WAY ahead of everyone (I believe they managed to catch a ferry that nobody else got on).. They are cruising along thinking nobody will be able to catch them. One of their friends is watching a website from home and tells them that this Porsche is catching up FAST (btw... its raining).. They gun it but the M5 isnt fast enough to outrun a modified Porsche 911 TT.
Not sure how long it took the Porsche to catch up but its been figured this guy was going between 180 and 200 mph in order to make up the distance in the time he did.
This was back when Gumball was good. Sure this is extremely stupid but the people that are doing Gumball now are going just as fast yet arent nearly as good drivers as these guys.

ahaha I like how they thought it'd be near impossible for the Porsche driver to catch up and then VROOOM he flies through the side median
