Yep every spring/summer there's no point in even making a thread about it.

if you get jr chickens with spicy thai or pesto sauce, it's pretty much a bigger and cheaper mcmini.

macs are overpriced..have u noticed laptops and desktops are getting cheaper every year and the mac is still the same price. macs are beat in specs and designs aren't that much better than the competitors. the only advantage it holds is its operating system and that luxury branding identity

Not necessarily. For the consumer, I understand your point of view, but from a professional point of view, the 17" Macbook Pro was the best computer for me, due to its thin & light form factor (tell me what other 17" laptop is 1" thick or weighs 6.6 pounds), high resolution screen that displays 80% of the Adobe 1998 RGB colour gamut and crazy battery life. As a photographer, those were very important to me. Besides, as a business expense, I can write it off.

In the end you should get whatever machine is best FOR YOU. :)

majority of mac users will tell that after the switch, they will not go back. I first strictly used the mac for protools, now its my everyday computer, and im about to buy the i7 soon

ur statement has no fight

Yup, I've had my Macbook Pro for a year and I absolutely love it, especially when I can even run Windows (faster than my gfs new Toshiba Satellite) on it.

ur statement has no fightI bought a MBP, I only use it for two things: photo editing and iPhone programming. It's been over a year, and I still prefer to use my IBM. My mac crashes more often than my pc, and my computer illiterate dad says he prefers his desktop with W7.
Macs ARE overpriced, but thats never stopped consumers before.

I've used both Windows and Mac extensively. I don't find that either have many problems with crashing and whatnot.

I will say that I find that using the Mac is a more enjoyable experience because of the larger trackpad, trackpad shortcuts, and the look of the OS... is that worth $1200+? Maybe. The only thing is that you can't get shit done on a Mac. Office 2008 SUCKS HARD so I find myself asking what's the point if I have to bootcamp into Windows just to use a proper version of Office. Then again, if all you do is type words then I suppose it'll be fine.

If Office on Mac ever gets feature and program parity with the Windows version then maybe I'd consider going to a Mac full time.

i said majority..meaning not everyone. IBM laptops are of higher quality than most PC laptops out there so i see your point.

At the end of the day, alot of users switch to mac with the thinking of no viruses or whatnot. Of course all the junk they put on their PCs is what causes it to slow down and freeze, the same can be said for mac's its not stupid proof

I have experience in using both. I wish i could get work stuff done on my mac sometimes, but it doesnt happen.

fishing666 is some idiot troll anyways, telling people macs are beat and overpriced isnt a strong enough argument.

they have this free ipod promotion because the new macbook and Ipod Touch is coming out and they need to clear the inventory. I fell for this and although I got a free iPod Touch, 3 weeks later they unveiled a completely new macbook/ipod touch :(

The ipod touch that they give away is a 8gb, if u got the one last year they made no changes from the previous 8gb ipod touch to the current gen. only the 32gb and 64gb got the faster processer. But yeah pretty sure the new ones are gonna have a camera.

As for the macbooks and macbook pro line, new pros just came out couple weeks ago and current gen macbooks came out in the fall, with a few minor adjustments a couple weeks ago as well. I'd say its okay to buy now.

If you've never used a MBP before, the fact is it does some things the PC side would never have thought of in a million years and it does them extremely well. That's why ppl like them. Its specs may be lacking, but it's not as slow as you think cuz you can't compare OSX to Windows.

That said, it doesn't try to be a PC at all. If you have both, you get the best of both worlds. IMO, PC desktop + MBP laptop is the best combo. No need to be jealous or feel threatened. It's only a fuckin computer. They both work fine.

care to share what it does what a pc cant do?

hardware has a better screen(new anti-glares), stylish i guess?(join the hive mind), battery life, build quality.

every time i install OSX on my laptop (osx86) i end up uninstalling it after a couple weeks feeling so limited and pushed to do things a certain way. my gf also has a macbook pro 13inch... and i cant stand OSX for the life of me..

price is definately overpriced by at least 200-300dollars.... look at the dell studio 14, 15+.... spec them to match the mac counterparts.

large trackpad + multitouch (2, 3, 4 finger swipe) + expose + spaces makes life so much easier when working on a laptop - i don't miss my mouse at all. Performance doesn't bog down when I have 6 spaces worth of apps open.

I never shutdown or reboot. I want to use it, I open the lid and it's on. When I'm done, I close the lid - day after day.

iLife SW package is great in its own way. iWorks seems to be the same, but I just DL'ed it yesterday cuz I needed to draw something up quick. It gave me what I needed with little effort, so it's a great option to have.

OSX without the Apple trackpad is a waste.

Overall, I like it cuz it helps me get things done. No fuss, no muss. My old ThinkPad was great, this is better. Sure it's got limitations, but so does my PC. They really do focus on different things.

I was considering the XPS/Studio lines at the time. MBP with a student discount + free iPod Touch made it an interesting choice.
