70-200 f2.8L IS so freaking heavy!

I got to play around with this lens a bit today, and holy shit it's heavy! I can't imaging carrying it around all day.

I've played around with it before, too. It's definitely a heavy lens, but by no means is it stupid heavy.

You're a wimp. Try carrying a 1DMKIV + 500mm f4L IS slung over your shoulder AND a 5DMKII + 70-200mm f2.8L IS hanging around your neck for 6 hours hiking around looking for a rare songbird like I did today.

Like Mana, I carry a 5DMKII + 24-70mm f2.8 and a 5DMKII + 70-200mm f2.8L IS and a 580EXII + Gary Fong Lightsphere around with me on a wedding shoot. Yes, my arms get tired, but it's not unbearable.

Jason, did you find this song bird? If so, post pics!

Yeah the 70-200 2.8 plus body isn't too bad. Way to man up with the 500L, tripod, two bodies, and the 70-200 as well! Very nice! The 500 is quite heavy, at 8.5 pounds and the 600 is 11.8 pounds. What a beast!

Yeah, but only a glimpse of it, and it's back was facing us. We were looking for the Lazuli Bunting. Pics to come in the birds thread later.

Maybe it's just seem heavy because I've always shot small prime lenses. The heaviest lens I have is Sigma 50mm f1.4

I guess once you shoot it for a while, u just get use to it.

I have no problems carrying my 5D mkII + 70-200 2.8 IS + 2x extender all day long at events. If I'm gonna do alot of running around on rough terrain I like to use my manfroto monopod. You do get used to the weight quite easily.
