Does anyone know where I could get an e36 BMW 325i I am thinking of buying maintained for cheap (i.e. reputable garages that charge economical prices)?

e36 is cheap to maintain if you are doing it yourself. There are no high tech electronics nor fussy mechanical things like ignition, squirt etc.

Go to BCBimmer for locals who fix their own cars for tips on getting cheap parts etc http://www.bcbimmers.com/forums/index.php

e36 is an easy to maintain car we can handle that for you and our labor rates are far cheaper then BMW's

Some reputable shops:

The Euro Shop - Surrey
CG Motorsports - Richmond
Nixon Automotive - Burnaby
MB Euromotors - Vancouver
BMV - Richmond
Brian Jessel Autohaus - Vancouver/Burnaby (on Boundary Road)
Rise Auto Salon - Richmond
Drivehard Performance - Richmond

Rates are generally standard an less than dealership but I wouldn't say cheap (whatever your definition of that is.) I've had good experiences at Nixon Automotive but have not taken my car to the other shops for service. Most have a good reputation and have done excellent work.

FYI to the ill-informed: E36s generally have been known to be rock solid. Parts are reasonable and are plentiful and can be cheap if you do some shopping. Labour is labour at most shops anyway.

Another idiot post by you, E36s are ridiculously cheap to maintain.
That aside:

OP, oil changes which will need to be done on any car are pretty much the same price, i would say 40bux for oil and 15 or so for a nice filter.

If you're tallking about bigger issues though, like wheel bearings etc or engine work, that straight 6 in the E36 is pretty much bulletproof. So really i can't see much happening to it unless you buy a lemon. And like others have said, the E36 doesn't have like 141250912451294 electric items like the modern german cars

Check out the new sponsors: www.TheSpeedSyndicate.com

They are located in Burnaby and they have taken care of my BMW for me when I couldn't DIY. They've helped in maintaining my car at a very low price. :)

great thing about E36's is that solutions are easy to find on
almost every problem possible on that car as it's been around for a while
and DIY is not too bad on it either,

but of course, there may be times when you'll need a shop's expertise
and we'll be there for you if you need us.

try and spend the extra coin to find a well maintained example
and get a PPI done (we can help you with that)

once you find the right example, you will not regret it
i own an E36 myself, and i know they're a blast to drive!

labour rates are ridiculously stupid
i dont know what the labour rates are for bmw but for a GMC truck, it was 102$/hr at the dealership and those fags know how to stretch their hours.

OP wants cheap. probably like 20$/hr + parts with no mark up

why did you fail the Autohaus guys? they are a separate entity from the dealership owned by BJ...

20/hour? does Canadian tire even charge that low?

took my 08 TL to Midas main/terminal: $42 (tax in) oil change for 5w20. see coupon www.midas.ca

acura dealership oil change was $69 plus tax.

tire rotations? DIY or midas for $20.
