Hi, i have an asus a8v-e deluxe motherboard and i would like to upgrade its cpu. I currently have amd athlon 64 3000+, what kind of cpu can i buy to upgrade it?
Any AMD CPU labelled "Socket 939", S939, 939, etc.
But that socket type is fairly outdated so you'll be hard pressed to find a 939 CPU these days. I have that same chip in my PC right now.

just get a new computer
yeah I, too, was thinking of upgrading my CPU a couple months ago, but couldn't find any reasonably priced Athlon X2's in S939 so I just said fuck it. Instead, I'm gonna save up over the summer and build an HTPC soon.

Can i still use a dualcore chip thats socket 939?

The most popular dual core Socket 939 is the 3800+. It sells used for about $60 and is hard to find. A lot if people decide it too much to pay and choose to build a new computer that's twice or three times faster than the 3800+. You can decide which path you want to take.
